Departure Time

9:00 AM
Begin with pickup at your hotel in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo, and travel to La Ropa Beach to get fitted out with a kayak and lifejacket. Paddle alongside a guide as you make the short trip to Las Gatas Beach, where you pause for a cold beer or water before starting the snorkel tour of the seawall.

Everything from hermit crabs to tropical fish make their home on the sheltered inner surface of the seawall, and you can also find sea urchins and sea cucumbers among the coral reef formations. Swim as far as the ‘King of Kings’ statue, an underwater statue of Jesus made from melted-down keys donated by Zihuatanejo locals. Return to shore for lunch on the beach, choosing from a main dish of fish, chicken, shrimp or cheese quesadillas. All meals choices are accompanied by rice, salad, guacamole, and chips.

Relax on the beach after lunch, with ample time to soak up the sunshine or swim, then return to your kayak for the trip back to La Ropa Beach. This tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

We had an amazing tour by Luis. He picked us up on time and gave us a tour of the city before we arrived at La Ropa Beach to get our Kayaks. Luis made sure to get us a great table at Las Gatas and then took us on an amazing snorkel trip. Beautiful fish! I do wish we had more time at Las Gatas but overall everything with Luis was amazing and he had great knowledge about the city. Would absolutely 100 use him again!

We did the kayaking tour with Luis for 4 of us. 1 non-swimmer in the group was very apprehensive. Luis went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable. Great day snorkeling, kayaking, and a delicious lunch on the beach the best meal all week. Luis gave a lot of background information on the area and was very informative. We enjoyed the first excursion so much that we booked a city/countryside tour with Luis for the next day. He sold me so much on the area I want to retire here. He did a great job and I would 100 recommend him to anybody.

The kayak trip to the beach Playa Las Gatas is fun and relaxing. Luis the guide speaks very good English and is a really nice and informative guy. When you get there, you are set up at a restaurant on the beach. The snorkeling was pretty good. You are taken out by a guide that shows you the underwater sites both manmade and the underwater creatures. It was amazing. For me, I could have snorkeled a little longer however. The food was good, but I would have like to have seen a few more choices optioned than the two at the restaurant. One thing to remember on this trip is to bring money. You are only given one beer or bottled water as part of the trip. Everything else is extra. That would have been nice to know. Overall it was a fun day. Would have given it a five star with a little more time to snorkel and the slight restaurant changes listed above. Minor details overall. Four and a half.

This was a great trip. Guide was a lot of fun. Snorkeling was good. If lucky the water will be clear, but if not clear then its not the best. The lunch was good, friendly staff.

Wonderful day kayaking and snorkeling! Beautiful sights and relaxing delicious lunch on the beach. Luis was a phenomenal guide. I'm not a good swimmer but I always felt safe. My husband loved it too. Luis made it fun and interesting with facts and history of ixtapa and zuantenejo. Highly recommend!
