Yogyakarta Exotic Prambanan Temple with Ramayana Ballet Join Tour

I booked this tour on 8 Sept through Viator with Wandernesia as the tour operator and pickup time 14.00 on 17 Sept. On 16 Sept I received an email advising a new pickup time of 13.30-13.45, with a new voucher indicating Korina as the tour operator. I was in the hotel lobby by 13.30 the next day and waited till 14.00 when the driver arrived. No worries, he had picked up other passengers (two nice Belgian guys) and we headed to Prambanan. The tour included the entrance price and the driver facilitated my entry. I engaged a guide (extra cost, but worth it) and toured the temple complex for about an hour. After that I went on my own to see the 3 Buddhist temples. I wanted to take the little train to save my feet, but that didn’t seem to be an option, though later I saw it operating. I returned to the Hindu temples to take sunset photos. I then returned to the carpark as arranged at 17.30 (yes, sunrise and sunset are early in Indonesia), to meet the driver. The driver dropped me at the nearby open-air theatre, since I had a ticket to see the Ramayana ballet. Before heading off to take the two Belgians back to the city, the driver gave me clear instructions where to wait after the show, on a chair outside the ticket office. There was a restaurant next door where I had dinner and I would recommend that highly, with lovely food and friendly staff. The Ramayana ballet was amazing with the Prambanan temples as a backdrop. I had read up on the story and collected an information sheet on the way in, and this helped my understanding. After the show I went to the appointed place to wait for the driver. When he didn’t turn up after about 15 minutes, I phoned the tour operator (luckily, I had written down the new number) and explained my predicament. I received a text message in reply saying “Oh, you want to go back to hotel? Please wait, I will contact your driver.” I was flabbergasted by this response, since the tour price clearly included hotel pickup and dropoff. Eventually a different driver arrived and dropped me at my hotel. The next day I sent a text to the tour operator asking if the original driver was OK (I wondered if he was in an accident or something). A day later I received a reply to say he was OK, but there was no explanation of why he had failed to pick me up. In conclusion, the Prambanan temple complex is amazing as was the Ramayana ballet, both highly recommended. However, the problem at the end of the day was unfortunate.
