George Town food taste and history tour.
, Jun 2021
Such a great tour given by Katie. She was so knowledgeable about the the history of George Town. The food was good especially knowing the history behind some of the restaurants we ate at. My favorite stop was at the coffee shop.

Perfect way to see Georgetown. Mary kept us rolling along with great information and food. Would recommend for adults. Never felt pushed or uncomfortable with a mix of hills and stops.

Loved our guide he was very knowledgeable of the Georgetown. But, it was more of a historical tour than a food tour.

Hi Jordan~ Glad you loved your guide in Georgetown, but I'm sorry that you didn't appreciate the history we share on tour. We tell the history of neighborhoods through food and carefully select our tastings so that they contribute to the story of the area we are touring. Rather than just offering random tastings, our goal is provide plenty of food while connecting each dish to how the area has grown and changed. Thank you for joining us and I hope you'll continue to take food tours in other places that you visit.

Our tour guide Eli provided an excellent history and culinary experience on our recent walking tour of Georgetown. This was our first visit to Washington and we had a great time learning about some of the history of Georgetown (and early Washington) as well as having the opportunity to taste a variety of culinary treats. We often do food tours when visiting a city that is new to us and this did not disappoint.

We’ve been to many food and history tours and we selected this tour for the smaller size of the group. The history was ok but the food was disappointing. Meeting place was at 1:00 started with a donut and the story behind the shop. Water for a drink. I think they picked this spot due to centralized location. We then went to a small 3.00 falafel shop where we stood outside while he ordered and ate outside. It was a nice day but if it were cool or raining- this May be problematic. We have set outside for dessert in Wynwood but it was covered. Plus we were approached by a homeless guy, when our guide was in line, which we are use to in the city but I can see where this may make some weary. We ate standing on the street and we had the same bottled water from stop one. The story behind all of the places they took us were interesting the value just wasn’t there. Beer was served with a salad at the next place. Vietnamese sandwich without a drink at the next and French bakery without a drink or French press coffee. We’ve always looked forward to the tours in other cities and we will try again just not with this group.

Hi Nancy~ I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed by our food tastings on our Georgetown tour and I appreciate your feedback. We work with restaurants that we've chosen specifically to help us share the history of the neighborhood, which is the mission of our company. Rather than just providing a selection of random tastings, we choose our partners with local stories or historic locations. That said, we understand that sometimes our vision does not match our guests' - I'm glad you will continue to take food tours on your travels as we believe it's the best way to explore a new city!

I have taken a lot of foodie tours in the past from different countries. The food on this tour was not very good , only had five samples two being desserts. We paid a higher price then most foodie tours and thought that would we get something special. Liquor was suppose to be included but were only offered a beer which no one in the group wanted. The guide talked to us in the sun and at one spot didn’t even had seats. The whole experience was third class and I would not recommend this tour to anyone. was

The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. Food was delicious (donut, falafel, fried green tomatoes and beer, shumai and pan fried dumplings, and a pastry). Really interesting factoids about the neighborhood too!

Amazing! Highly recommended tour. I tried great food from places I would have probably overlooked and learnt a lot about the history of each restaurant and the general area. Overall great food and superb guide!
