10:00 AM
Bring your appetite and be prepared for noon pickup at your Warsaw accommodation. Meet your foodie guide and climb aboard a classic, Communist-era minibus that will whisk you around the capital, covering much more distance and diversity than a walking tour.

Learn about Polish culture through its cuisine as you make your way through a hand-picked selection of the city's best and most authentic eateries. Sample fresh local produce at a farmer’s market, and then delve into heartier delights like kiełbasa (sausage), traditional Polish soup, bigos (meat and cabbage stew), and two kinds of stuffed pierogi (dumplings).

If you have a taste for salty pickled products, you might like ogórki kiszone (pickled cucumbers). Sink your teeth into some of Warsaw’s best baked goods like market-fresh bread and delicious pączki (donuts) from a pastry shop, and wash it down with a cup of coffee. Finally, no Polish food tour would be complete without a shot of strong, refreshing vodka.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Hala Mirowska
After a short transfer, we take you to the best food market in Warsaw - Hale Mirowskie. Being filled with dozens of stalls, it’s the source of the best ingredients for chefs of five stars restaurants as well as for local babushkas. You will taste the best Polish specialities, like Polish sausage, pickled cucumbers and cabbage, smoked fish, lovely bread, traditional soft drink and more (the list may vary since it’s seasonal and daily selection). Small talks (in Polish!) with sellers add more flavour to this visit.

Stop At:
Old Town
It’s time to visit the next spot, which serves a unique version of Polish dumplings. Pyzy, which are made from potatoes and topped with delicious sauces, played an essential role on the tables of Warsaw citizens. Often they were served in jars during communist days, since that glass container was the only available one, long before take away boxes that we know now.

Stop At:
Śródmieście
Stories about communism must be topped with a glass of delicious homemade vodka - trust us, this will be the best vodka you will find in Warsaw.

Stop At:
Warsaw New Town
The last stop is a bar mleczny (literally translated as "milk bar" from Polish): a pre-WWII concept developed later by communist governments. It was a cafeteria, where the government provided traditional Polish cuisine at a low cost. Since meat was rare and expensive, most dishes were milk-based. To have an excellent finish to the tour, one must have a Polish dessert!

My fiancé and I went on this food tour and it was amazing. Mark was a wonderful guide who gave us such an authentic Polish experience. He was well-versed in the history of the area. We went to so many places on our vacation and out of everything we did my fiancé said this was his favorite thing.

We have done a number of food tours in various countries around the world and this was by far the best. We were picked up from our hotel and driven around in a little minibus from the Cold War era which was an added bonus. Our guide owned the tour business and nothing was too much trouble for him. He spent far longer with us than the tour indicated and overall this tour is a must to do in Warsaw.

Our guide was Mark, who was excellent. Highly recommend. He had wonderful knowledge of the area and the history of Poland, Warsaw and the food. Probably the best tour we've been on. The food tastes were broad, many new and very tasty. We loved the locations of the different tastings.

We took this tour on our first full day in Warsaw and it was a perfect way to get familiar with the city. Our guide Mark took us to several shops restaurants and the local market and also gave us a lot of history and information on Warsaw. I wish I could have eaten more but was stuffed full! I highly recommend this tour!

The tour was great! Our tour guide not only knew his food, but he also knew about the history and culture behind it that he readily shared with us too. There were lots different local foods to try and different food choices at some of the stops as well. We had a Polish donut, several different types of pierogi, smoked fish, sausage, soup, and even a few different shots of vodka. Well worth the experience! John Long - Cairo, Egypt

Really insightful tour. Much more interesting than the walking tour we had taken with a different company the day before. Martin the guide is both knowledgable and passionate about all things Warsaw including its food and drink. He took us to some really interesting restaurants which you would never come across as a tourist. Can't recommend tour highly enough.

I recommend this tour and I advise you to ask Martin for guide! Martin was a wonderful guide, he shows us the typical old markets, where we tried typic polish food. We went to a lot and different restaurant to try polih specialities where there was no tourist. We tried so much wonderful things and all the time Martin gives us explanation of the origin of the food, we even tried coffee which was made as it was done during and after the world war 2. All very good memories and we traveled in an old firetruck ! SUCH A WONDERFUL DAY BUT A VERY GREAT GUIDE
