Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Tivua Island is the perfect day-trip destination in Fiji. Encircled by white-sand beaches and surrounded by coral reef, the pristine tropical island functions as a sea turtle sanctuary during nesting season.

After hotel pickup, step aboard the Ra Marama, a brigantine (two-masted sailing ship) built in 1957 and named after a 19th-century war canoe. Enjoy Fijian music by the entertaining crew and watch for dolphins playing in the bow wave as you’re served morning tea aboard the tall ship.

Upon arrival at Tivua Island, take part in a yaqona (kava) welcome ceremony. You can decide how to while away the hours: swim in the azure sea, stroll around the island, or sunbathe on the sandy shoreline. If you're feeling energetic, a selection of activities such as snorkeling, beach volleyball, reef fishing, and use of kayak, stand-up paddleboard, or canoe is included. Or perhaps set out for some coral viewing on a glass-bottom boat tour.

Dig into a buffet luncheon including barbecue chicken, whole baked fish, sausages, fresh salads, fruit and fresh-baked bread rolls accompanied by local beer, wine and soft drinks. Enjoy afternoon tea before the return sail to your starting point, with drop-off at your hotel by day's end.

Beautiful island and friendly staff. Day went so fast! Small group with ample options for enjoying the day, including massages, kids club and glass bottomed boat. Easy waters to snorkel and fun to swim with the baby sharks! Lots of cabanas on the island and great variety of food available for lunch. Staff all friendly and kind to my children.

Wonderful, beautiful trip

We had such a wonderful day. All the crew members were so welcoming and kind, the music they olayed and sung was beautiful. The island itself is something from a postcard, absolutelt stunning and you have a wide range of activities to choose from..or you can relax with complimantary beer/wine/soda under a little beach shade. We snorkelled with baby sharks, and kayaked around the island. The food was delicious with a great mix of foods. All in all, we had one of the best days ever. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to discover this beautoful slice of paradise. Thaaank you too all the crew on Captain Cook Cruises.

This was such a lovely day trip to do. The boat we were on was very nice, we were greeted by a cold drink. All the staff were lovely. Had a cava ceremony which was fun! The island itself is beautiful! Did snorkeling and chilled in the water with some drinks. Water is crystal clear! Absolute bliss! Thanks so much for a great day out!

DONT DO THE NOVICE SCUBA
biglos52

The ship is like an old pirate ship which is pretty cool. You are greater on board with music and come fresh juice. Once we started heading out you are greater by the crew and they do their best to up sell you on anything possible. I get it... it’s a business. I went to the back of the boat to talk to the divers about the novice suba trip they tell you it’s some outrageous price but for TODAY ONLY they can do it for a cheaper price. I told them NO and they brought down the price even more. I told them no again and they lowered their price and told me that was the rock bottom price. I agreed we to do it as they hype it up saying that you get a certificate that’s says you can now scuba anywhere in the world and blah blah blah. I did the adventure and it was ok nothing special everything was brown and you really don’t see any colorful fish. It was disappointing and I NEVER GOT MY CERT. I would probably pass on this part of the trip. The island is small and when it’s low tide good luck trying to swim the water goes way down enough that you could probably walk 200-400 meters away from the island and still have water up to your ankles. Also when they call lunch you better be the first in-line the food will Run out. By the way the food is NOT good. Here is my last tip. Get all your water, beer, drinks on the island because on the way back they will charge you for everything.

Thank you for taking the time to write. Please email us at fiji@captaincookcruisesfiji.com so we can followup on the information provided for your diving. Our island is a very safe place to dive and there are normally many colourful fish. Apologies the dive instructor didnt take you to a good place. The food normally receives great feedback. It would be good to know the date your cruised so we can follow up specifically.
