We ended up not even doing the tour. We were in the parking lot well before the tour started. Our tour started at 1:30- I went up to the yellow bus as the directions state at 1:00. The instructions on the bus read that if your tour starts at 1:30 then be there at 1:30. But, online the instructions say to be there at least 15 minutes early to get everything ready. So at around 1:15 I got out of our car again because I saw a guide- asked her what we should do and she said if your tour starts at 1:30 then meet here at 1:30. Went back in the car. A group from reykavich drove in on a van around 1:25- they started helping all of them get ready for the tour. At 1:30 we got out of our car and stood right by everyone else getting ready looking around for a guide and no one was helping us. At 1:45 we still were not acknowledged so, we decided to leave due to no help from anyone and honestly did not feel welcome. We had to pay full price because they would not give us a refund and they stated we were late… Completely untrue. We did do a glacier cave hike tour the day before with Guide to Iceland and would highly recommend them again at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. Everyone there was very helpful and pleasant to be around.

It is really exciting to hike on the glacier, knowing that the ice is thousands of years old. It is amazing how the different weather conditions shape the glacier.
Our tour guide Francesco waited for us in the morning to give us a good introduction to the rules how to behave and what to do in case of any unforeseen circumstances/situations.
He really took care of all the participants needs and kept the pace relatively to the average condition of the group. He explained a lot about the glacier on a few stops on it. Foto stops were also nicely considered and all in all we felt very save with him.
At this point many thanks to Francesco for that really unique experience on our last day before returning home.
Great but could be improved

We really enjoyed the Glacier Hike with Simon and are so glad we did the tour. There were some things that could be improved however. The getting ready period is very long - be prepared to stand in the cold for over an hour as part of this. It also wasn't really a 'small group' there were 16 of us in our group. It felt like we missed out on more time because of the size of the group. If you're keen to get a really in depth glacier experience I would definitely advise a private group - we think it would be worth the money to get more time for this incredible experience. Despite this, we still had a great time and would certainly recommend it regardless.

An Iceland Adventure Must

We booked quite late on to this glacier experience as a final thing to do for our holiday. As someone with no climbing experience and who is scared of heights, I was a bit hesitant. The trip started off slow, getting geared up and having safety briefs but the experience itself was incredible. The walk went a significant distance onto the glacier giving the most incredible views. The provided equipment and instructors meant we felt really safe and secure and able to fully enjoy the experience. The guide was fab giving us great details and really completing the experience. The best three hours! I wouldn’t recommend to everyone.
Great view from the top...

Great Experience for Ice part of Iceland

This was my first time on a glacier, and it was an unforgettable experience. The guide, Valero, was great and made sure that our group really maximized the time we had on the ice and gave careful instructions. He made sure we felt comfortable the whole time but also got to try new things. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone who has never done a glacier walk before. This was definitley a highlight experience in our Iceland trip, and we were glad we got to do this now as all of the glaciers are losing mass.

Overall amazing experience, 100% recommended! We were able to experience the glacier to the fullest. Our guide Pablo (not exactly sure how to spell his name) was great and super patient, we felt he really enjoyed his job and had the best vibes. He explained and gave information that was very enlightening. I would do this tour again without a single doubt.

I have to thank Marco, who was a most excellent and helpful guide. I’d sprained my ankle my first day in Iceland, and five days later….didn’t want to miss out on this experience. He helped me EVERY STEP OF THE WAY (almost literally!). It was a bucket list item that we (my family and I) didn’t know was even on our list of coolest lifetime experiences.

Great glacier experience

We enjoyed the tour a lot, it was a great way to see a glacier up close even if you don’t have a lot of experience with glacier hiking. The guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable and gave us good safety instructions and the scenery was just stunning. Be aware that you need to have a good basic fitness level to participate, all the going up and down can get quite exhausting. :-)
Cool glacier walk

Great experience! Our guide was fun and knowledgeable. Our group had about 15 people in it. The walk was pretty easy for athletic people. You had to walk about a mile to the glacier and then on the glacier we hiked up and down, we were pretty hot in our layers.

We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.

Sorting, ranking, and search results
Viator wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That’s why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.
On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You’ll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.
You’ll see some experiences with a “Promoted” badge, which means that the operators of those experiences have agreed to pay Viator more to have their experience highlighted.
If you see an Experience Award Winner label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Viator over a 12-month period.
The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We’re always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
