Pasta is Italy’s iconic dish, and with this cooking experience you can learn how to prepare two varieties of pasta like an authentic Italian “Cesarina” (home cook). Roll out a sheet of pasta dough by hand to make both a fresh and filled variety from scratch, and then whip up a tiramisù with the help of your “Cesarina” teacher. Relax after your hands-on class by sampling the dishes you’ve prepared together.
  • Try your hand at rolling and cutting a “sfoglia” (sheet of fresh pasta)

Buyer Beware!

Buyer Beware! As much effort and double checking that was done over the phone with the Viator representative to pursue the five star experience that was advertised didn’t pan out for us. There are several reviews on some of the cooking classes offered in Venice Italy with a one star rating. So, I made sure to ask and ask again to avoid that experience. The photos in this ad were not anything like our class. Theses photos look like a professional cooking school environment and give an illusion. Our instructor was kind and very warm hearted. She was pleasant, knowledgeable and taught patiently. The home where we met for class was clean and modest. The kitchen was not large enough for all of our party of 6 to see and participate. It was a space about 6’ by 4’. One or two people were able to learn and have a hands on experience at any given time. Everyone else lounged in a family room on a futon couch and watched local T.V. The price we paid seemed fair for the three course meal on the itinerary we signed up to learn. But, it was nothing like the photos lead you to expect. There were no aprons or chef hats of white, no stainless steel kitchen countertops, or professional appliances, utensils or cookware. This kitchen did not have an oven but it did have a 24” stove with four burners. Our teacher’s attire was not typical of a chef or cooking school environment it was more relaxed and casual, dark sweat pants, a grey long sleeve sweatshirt and a pair of house slippers...... We had a pleasant time and we learned to make Tiramisu, Stuffed Ravioli and Gnocchi. Our family made wonderful memories, ate great food and learned how other people live. We would do it again!......we just would not expect what the pictures advertised.....it’s not fair to the teacher or the students. Bon Appetite!

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion with us. We truly regret to hear that you felt like the value of this tour didn’t match up to the price you paid. Our experiences are priced a little above average because there is a lot of work behind them, both from our hardworking team and our dedicated network of hosts. Moreover, in the description of the shared cooking class you've booked write: This experience will be held in a local's home. Our Cesarine (the name of our hosts) will welcome you like part of the family and will teach you their family cooking secrets for an authentic culinary experience. Cesarine is Italy’s oldest network of home cooks all over the country. They are welcoming hosts that open the doors of their own homes to curious travellers for immersive culinary experiences. The Venice, like many other destinations all over Italy, there numerous hosts available. The photos on Viator are from previous cooking classes with hosts of the Network. We confirm confidently that no where on the photos or description of "Share your Pasta Love: Small group Pasta and Tiramisu class in Venice" to be find adverting about professional cooking, cooking school or chefs. You were right to expect the very best, which is why we always go the extra mile to make sure you’re getting what you paid for – not just in terms of the authentic Italian food, but also the quality of our local hosts, and warm hospitality. Thank you very much for providing us with this useful feedback, we will make sure to include additional descriptions about this experience to avoid any further misunderstandings. We would love to welcome you back next time you're in Italy. Warm regards, Elif and Cesarine Team

This cooking class was my husband and I's favorite part of our vacation in Italy! Alessandra was absolutely fantastic- kind, pleasant, and an excellent teacher. The food was delicious and the overall experience was so enjoyable! We loved learning about the Italian food and culture, and it was so gracious that Alessandra and her husband were so welcoming to open up their home to us. I would recommend this experience to anyone!

We had the best evening - a highlight of our trip to Venice. Our hosts and interpreter were incredible. We had fun and learned lots about cooking but also about life in Venice. I’d recommend this to anyone visiting Venice.
