Why Travelers Choose This Tour

High-speed train tickets and entry to the Colosseum make this ideal for those looking for bargains.
The capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, Florence was the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance in the 14th century and boasts an abundance of artistic masterpieces among its world-class museums, statue-filled piazzas, historic cathedrals, and distinctive architecture. Take a break from the canals of Venice to visit this urban homage to the arts.

On the morning of your tour, head to Venice’s Santa Lucia Station and hop aboard a comfortable high-speed train and settle in for the scenic, 2-hour journey to Florence, which lies approximately 160 miles (260 km) to the south of Venice.

Once you arrive in Florence, greet your guide and embark on a walking tour of the city. See top sights like the central Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori, home of Brunelleschi’s Dome, the shop-lined Ponte Vecchio, and the beautifully landscaped Boboli Gardens.

After your tour, explore Florence independently. You could marvel at Michelangelo’s famous David sculpture at the Accademia Gallery;
view a jaw-dropping collection of Renaissance paintings at the Ufizzi Gallery, or simply wander through charming piazzas and winding medieval streets, which appear little changed from centuries ago.

When you’re ready for a break, settle into a sidewalk seat at a local café to watch daily Florentine life go by or enjoy a sweet scoop from one of the city’s famed gelaterias (all entry tickets and meals are at your own expense).

Make your way back to Florence’s Santa Maria Novella Station to catch your return train at the time advised. Relax on the return ride to Venice, where you will arrive back at Santa Lucia Station in the late evening.

Please note: Starting from April 2018, a salami tasting will be included. The tasting will take place at Mercato Centrale, (drinks excluded), and a vegetarian option is available upon request.

Review of Fast Train Trip

Grandson and grandparents made this excursion together. The emails and text messages we received before the trip changed the procedures we were to follow. The changes were acceptable to us and we were able to follow the revised agenda. The new agenda included meeting a vey knowledgeable tour guide who spoke English very well. The gathering place was in front of the Hard Rock Restaurant. There were several pan handlers there also who were distracting and rude at times. Our seats on the return trip were against the water closet bulkhead which was emitting unpleasant odors. The tour guide did an excellent job of keeping us the shade while delivering her talk. She added many details to the history of Florence that we would have missed on a self guided tour. At the end of the tour we found ourselves wishing that the guide could have stayed with us for a longer time. We were also scheduled for a salamis tasting activity which we chose to skip because it required retracing our steps back to near the Hard Rock Restaurant. It was very hot and humid that day. We had to use Google Maps to find our way back to the train station. It was Sunday so there were no places to set and rest so we stood until the late departure of our train. Overall we enjoyed being immersed in the cultural nuances of Florence even for a short time.

Worst Event I've ever Booked!

I have booked many tours with Viator and have always been very pleased. This is the first time, I've experienced the tour from hell. The train parts were perfect. We caught the Hop on Hop off bus and started our journey. Our plan was to visit 8 out of the total places. Our first stop was at the Statue of Michal Angelo. We stayed there 1 hour and was planning on catching the next bus to see the rest of the stops. The next bus that came was full so we waited about an hour for the next bus to come. Which was okay. The next bus, never stopped. She pulled up behind another bus and kept going. It was about 10 people waiting at the stop. We all had to find alternative ways to get to our final designations. We were ONLY able to see ONE stop and we had to WALK back to the train station. This bus driver should be fired. I want my money back!!! The reason why we catch the 2 hour train ride to Florence was to see the sites at the Hop on Hop off site. Ridiculous!

Worth it!

Would have given it 5 stars if there was an option to have the train ride include a fully guided tour rather than the on/off bus. Florence is very small that you can walk it yourself. Also, if there was an option to leave from Florence back to Venice earlier rather than the last train out around 930PM, that would have been a plus. The public buses in Venice stop at midnight.

First and foremost, I want to give Viator 5 stars for all they did to help with our trip. Three stars is only because of the Hop on/Hop off Services. We were on our honeymoon and planned a day in Florence. Their was an issue with the train however, Viator was very accommodating and fixed the problem. When we arrived it was raining. Because of this the Hop on/Hop Off Buses the representative said they oversold and would not help us were only running one bus per line. We ended up having to pay for public transportation. This is not Viator's fault but it was so frustrating to have to deal with something that you paid for with no help from the vendor.
