Why Travelers Choose This Tour
Saved to wishlist!
Your Great Barrier Reef day trip starts at either Breakwater Marina in Townsville or Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal on Magnetic Island, where you’ll board the MV Adrenalin; select from these two departure points when booking. Fuel up for your snorkeling or scuba diving adventure with provided morning tea.
Your destination inside the World Heritage–listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is Lodestone Reef, known for its crystal-clear water, coral, colorful reef walls and large bommies that attract an abundance of marine life. Whether you are snorkeling, taking an introductory dive or enjoying two certified dives, you’ll enjoy the variety of depths, from 3 to 65 feet (1 to 20 meters), where you’ll spot stingrays, reef fish, turtles, white- and black-tip reef sharks and Maori wrasse. Each option is tailored to different skill levels.
On board your 45-foot (14-meter) custom-built boat, you can enjoy provided tea, coffee, cordial and water. If you want to take a break, relax on the boat’s sundeck or shaded area. Lunch and afternoon tea are also included before you return to Townsville or Magnetic Island, where your tour ends.
Option 1: Snorkeling
Lodestone Reef’s clear visibility and coral provide a great spot for snorkeling. Swim through the channels between the reef and into the shallows to get a closer look at the marine life.
Option 2: Certified Dive
If you are a certified diver, you can take two dives at an uncrowded dive site. Go deep to take a look at coral columns and channels surrounding the reef, or hang out on the fringing reef and canyons around the lagoon. You can go with a dive buddy, or you have the option to enhance your scuba experience with a dive guide (additional fee); it is required that you hire the certified guide if you do not already have 10 logged dives.
Option: 3: Introductory Dive
If you are a beginner diver, not yet certified, enjoy this opportunity to explore Lodestone Reef with a diving instructor.
