Best part of our trip to Japan!

For those looking for an adventurous, authentic experience of Japan, this is a must-do excursion! Immersed in Nature, a world away from crowded tourist spots, yet within an hour of Tokyo city. This tour takes you to places that you would never find or see on your own as a visitor to Japan. After pickup at our hotel by our amazing tour guide, Hiroko, the tour started off with a cable car ride to the top of Mount Mitake. After visiting a picturesque Shinto shrine and enjoying the crisp mountain air, we ate a delicious lunch at a mountain-top inn. We then hiked a mountain trail through the forest to a naturally formed rock garden and waterfall. The hike offered gorgeous, breathtaking views of mountains and valleys, and a chance to see some spectacular and unique wildflowers and birds we've not seen anywhere else. We spent the night in a “shukubo” (traditional Japanese inn) nestled in a tiny village with a single, winding lane – so much more charming than any chain hotel!! Our room offered a panoramic view of the mountains whose colors changed each hour with the setting sun. The inn-keeper’s wife personally came over to greet us and offered hospitality. Following breakfast at the shukubo next morning, we got to do a refreshing rafting trip along the Tama river, a great way to beat the heat! The rafting guides included a lot of fun activities, such as visiting small waterfalls along the river! This was followed by yummy lunch at a cozy, local soba noddle shop, and ended with a train ride back to Tokyo city. Our tour guide, Hiroko, was truly outstanding! Extraordinary attention to every detail, planning and dedication – wow! We had some unique dietary restrictions but she had everything well planned! She was a great source of interesting facts about Japanese history, culture and geography. She was, by far, the best tour guide we’ve ever had! We all agreed this delightful excursion was definitely the highlight of our visit to Japan! Highly recommend!

Hello awalimbe, I would like to say thank you very much for coming to Nishitama area. I was really happy to guide you this area for 2 days. As you know, Tokyo offers an unlimited choice of shopping, entertainment, culture and dining to the visitors. However, this area is still almost unknown as the choice for those. Hopefully this area will eventually become one of major tourist attractions. You are anytime welcome back here. -Hiroko
