Overview

Sample the raucous nightlife and good times found in Asakusa during this 3-hour nighttime food and drink crawl. This historic area may draw hordes of tourists during the day, but after dark it’s a true locals’ hangout, ensuring you an authentic nocturnal adventure. Raise a glass with some of Japan’s famous ‘salary-men’ as you enjoy craft beer, sake, and a variety of Japanese ‘izakaya’ (pub) foods. One included drink per restaurant, plus a local guide and food tasting ensure the party keeps going.
  • Enjoy a food and drink crawl after dark in Tokyo's Asakusa neighborhood
  • See a different side to the tourist area of Asakusa, which gets taken over by locals after dark
  • Feel like a Tokyo local as you raise pints of craft beer with the 'salary-men'
  • Sample the tasty drinking food found at Japanese 'izakayas' (pubs)
  • Great way to experience a true local's night out in Tokyo

Good food and great guide!

I was very lucky to be a group of one and to have Yukio as my guide. He shared so much information with me - food, drink, customs, history - all with gentle good humor and grace. He knew that my earlier exposure to Sensoji Temple had been very limited and he made a point to show me the temple lit up at night and shared more history and traditions. I really appreciated his guidance (and his reassurance that the puffer fish really was safe to eat!) and insights. I am an older woman traveling solo, so it was wonderful to have such a great guide and to have the opportunity to experience the delights of this area at night. I highly recommend this tour and most especially Yukio as the guide.

A Fantastic Tour !

If you want to see and experience the real Japan you must definitely go on this tour. I was a Solo traveller and would never have experienced these places on my own. My tour guide Tak was excellent, he had great local knowledge and spoke very good english. Asakusa is a very interesting area with many restaurants and bars, and you will be taken to a great selection of them for a different taste sensations. As a bonus to walk through the Sensoji Temple area at night when it is all lit up is wonderful. This is a fantastic tour that I thoroughly would recommend.

There were five of us from all over and we had a great time! Yu was friendly, generous, so nice, and very informative. He took us to several places we would never have known to go. We started with craft beers at the Asahi headquarters. Then we walked along the river under the cherry blossoms to a saki tasting which included meeting a true sake master. Yu also took us to an Izakaya where we had a sampling of traditional Japanese neighbourhood fare. We ended up at an upstairs small restaurant where we cooked three types of Japanese pancakes at the table. I love okonomiyaki! All food was servered with our choice of drinks. I recommend plum wine with sofa. The tour is in a great neighbourhood. Its fun and filling. I highly recommend it!

Yukio was great! We stopped at four different locations throughout the night--all were different and highly enjoyable. My favorite was sitting outside of a restaurant drinking Japanese cocktails and dining on small plates of food. Perfect night!

This was our third tour with this company, and we loved this one as well! Each tour we took three with this company in total provided us with a different insight, a different flavor, and a different taste to Tokyo culture and cuisine. Despite being a small group, we had two members from the company come out and provide us a great time! Not only did we get to see a more traditional and historical section of Tokyo, Asakusa, we also had ample opportunity to try interesting foods that admittedly, we might not have ordered on our own. We wouldn't even have known they existed! We made ample stops to different establishments, learned about food and night culture in an inviting format, and had a great evening. In addition, we were also encouraged to ask questions. Our guides were willing to share personal stories, point us in the right direction for future endeavors, and encourage us to try new things. The personal touch of this company is what really touched us the most. The kindness and enthusiasm this company showed to us caused us to end our evening and final tour with them with the warmest of feelings. If we ever make it back to Japan, we will make our best efforts to seek this company out for any other tours that might introduce us to something new or if they extend to other cities and we are able to make it to these cities they extended into Kyoto, I think!, we will make our best effort to seek them out there. We felt comfortable, encouraged, and satisfied on all counts. We left each tour with a new zeal and confidence for the focus of each experience and a deep appreciation and respect for the people running the tours.
