Terrible experience by Viator…we’ll never use them again
Wade_T
, Jun 2022
Ticketing option was terrible; we were not given the option of buying a single day ticket for the two of us - we only could buy a 2 day pass and of course this was the last day of our honeymoon hence we could not use the second day which was $80/ticket

Overpriced bus tour
Paul_R
, Jun 2022
General tour of Sydney - some recorded commentary but mostly music playing… If we had to do it again would have got the train/ tram to circular harbour and walked around the main sights - highlight was Opera house and Harbour bridge. Suggest walk along Barangaroo as well. Save your money for something else. £34 pp too expensive for this tour.

Great tour to get to see all the sights Sydney has to offer. The commentary is awesome, letting you know the history of where you are. Recommend highly.. the option to hop on and off is great..

Get to know the stops. Use time allocated. If you like sea food, lunch at Fish market is great. Soak the views, listen to history on audio.

The Big Bus tour was great however Viator information lacked detail about where stop 1 was located and tour times were incorrect.
icon Response from Host , May 2022
Thank you for your feedback Jan. For travellers wishing to join our tours, the tour times have been reviewed and updated. As of writing this response the information is correct. The Sydney City Red Route starts at 9:30am then every 45 minutes through until 2:45pm at STOP 1 located near the corner of Alfred St and George St Circular Quay in The Rocks.

It’s ok if you are able and happy to switch busses
April_P
, May 2022
The trip it’s self is good however the having to change buses in the middle of the tour is a pain when you have kids And add onto that one is in a wheel chair Makes life so hard it only runs for 1 and a 1/2 hours maybe do a full look them change
icon Response from Host , May 2022
Hi April. You certainly had your hands full having to take our unique tour with both children to care for and one person in a wheelchair. Our drivers are always on call to help you if and when you need to change from one tour to another tour. For travellers wishing to take our tour with challenges such as getting wheelchair on and off the tour, I strongly suggest to stay on the Sydney City Red Tour and treat the tour as a panoramic tour and enjoy all the 23 Stops without having to hop on and hop off the Bus. Then you can continue on the Red Route to Stop 3 and alight to join the Bondi Beach Blue Route. Start the Tour at 9:30am - complete the entire Red Rout whcih returns to Stop ! at The Rocks by 11:00am - remain on the Red Rout and travel to STOP 3, make the change with the help of the drivers on both the Red Route Service and the Blue Routs service. then passengers with children and Wheelchairs can enjoy a relaxing and adventurous day together.

It was ok…
Mary_N
, Apr 2022
It was an interesting tour, but I had to be quick to take photos! Ear phones were hit and miss, and I missed a bit thinking they weren’t speaking, but I’d lost the connection. We were provided with ponchos when it started to rain, which was a bonus. Bus stops were not easy to find, should be more detailed explanation on emails. A map of bus stops would be ideal. I did think $103 a bit pricey for myself and granddaughter.
icon Response from Host , Apr 2022
Hi Mary, Thank you for your feedback. For readers who are interested to understand some of our inclusions, we do offer two tours for the one price and you can hop on and hop off at 34 bus stops across Sydney on the Red Route and Bondi beach on the Blue Route on the 24 hour ticket or the 48 hour ticket. Next Time you visit one of our Big Bus cities and take the BIG BUS tour, always download the BIG BUS TOURS APP this is closest stop details, live bus tracking and also a function where the app will give you the walking directions to your closest stop from where you are located. If you are from NSW you can also use the Dine & Discover vouchers to travel on the Big Bus Sydney Tour. Adult price is $59 and Child price is $39 from 1st April 2022.

Bus ride through the city
Susan_A
, Apr 2022
Could have been a better experience. I booked over the phone & could not redeem my dine & discovery voucher as the lady did not understand me. It rained& they ran out of rain ponchos. People standing up could not see some points of interest. Wanted to get off at Bondi but the driver advised the next bus would be over two hours. I felt it was an expensive bus ride through the city. Not what I expected.
icon Response from Host , Apr 2022
Hi Susan, I am so sorry to read you could not get a complimentary poncho. NSW has had inclement weather lately unprecedented rainfall and more rain for this period of the year for the past 7 years. Just for readers advice - Big Bus HQ do not take phone bookings so I expect you must have booked through one of the 300 agents across Australia so I do apologise for that experience. Dine & Discover Vouchers are only redeemable online at www.bigbustours.com or at the Bus Stop itself, even the driver can help to redeem Dine & Discover vouchers. Due to our limited Bondi service we can only run 3 tours to Bondi each day 9:30am, 11:30am and 1:30pm, so when travellers want to hop off at Bondi beach they must board the 9:30am or the 11;30 am tour of there will not be another bus to pick up guests after the 1:30pm tour departs. I do hope you can give BIG BUS another go in another city when next you are travelling.

Not Enough Buses
Angela_K
, Apr 2022
We had about a one hour wait between buses. Waaaay too long. We gave up after 2 stops. Disappointing. Not convenient. Unable to “get our money’s worth.” They should have a timed p/u and d/o schedule like other cities do. But, I don’t think I’d recommend this company and Sydney. Very sorry to say.
icon Response from Host , Apr 2022
Hi Angela. I hope you downloaded the BIG BUS TOURS APP. This is all the information in the palm of your hand. Live bus tracking, walking directions to your nearest stop, first and last scheduled timetable and clear instructions as to where to join the bus. Currently due to limited service we run the Sydney City tour every 45 minutes, but as the day rolls on the timetable can be a little out as you experienced as some stops there may be a crowd wanting to join the bus and the bus driver will have to issue the tickets and get the guests seated before resuming on the designated route. I do hope you will give BIG BUS a chance in another one of our 23 cities across the globe when next you are travelling. But please download the APP. It is a game changer and will answer all of your questions.

We absolutely loved the experience and the drivers were so helpful. It’s fun seeing the sights and listening to the music and commentary as we toured Sydney. I’d definitely do it again. Well done!

The drivers and guides were excellent. Friendly and super helpful. They provided a poncho when it rained and recommended things to do based on my expressed interests. Great way to get bearings in a new city

Thank you for your kind words. We are here to Inspire the Spirit of Adventure in all our guests, so hopefully you learn some interesting facts from the commentary which is now available in 8 Languages. See you again soon at one of our 23 cities across the globe when next you are travelling.

Loved the fact that I was outdoors while riding on the upstairs section of the bus. Especially important during Covid to have the fresh air in my face.

Not good value with COVID restrictions
Susanna_L
, Dec 2020
The staff are fantastic but due to COVID the service is only running from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm so I don't think it is worth booking the Hop on Hop off as a way to enjoy Sydney. The train and ferry system in Sydney is amazing so it is better to simply top up an Opal card and go.

MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE
Bertha_B
, Aug 2020
This experience is one memorable one for me and husband. Regardless of the weather we enjoyed the tour. Listening to the history and seeing it at the time was so beautiful. I highly recommend the Hop-on-Hop-off bus if you want to know Sydney CDB well and the History. i will take my kids and Family back there at anytime. Regards Bex & Fred
