Jarar did a great job...

Jarar did a great job explaining the story of the island. Perfect mixture of walk and eat. Bring sunblock, comfortable shoes, an empty stomach and listening ear.

Nice Downtown Food Walking Tour

Jarrod was very knowledgeable, and I learned quite a bit about St. Thomas' interesting history. Jarrod also shared personal stories how he came to St. Thomas. Oddly enough we started with dessert - rum cake, but the rest of the food stops/items fell more in line. The venues were close to one another, but there were at least 2 venues where there were no seats and we had to eat standing, which is not my preference. Overall, I enjoyed the tour.

We stand at the harbor to enjoy the beef pate. After all, it is the VI "walk-around" snack. So happy you had a great experience. Gerard

No tour, extremely disappointed
Alicia_S
, Apr 2022
I wish I had an experience to share from this tour, but we waited for our guide and no one showed up. I finally called and was told that someone with my name or at least similar to my name had called the day prior to change the day of their tour. I assured him this was not me since we had just gotten in St Thomas that day on a cruise. I was told there was no guides available for us. So we were left without a tour, extremely disappointed, and basically just wandered around. I'd recommend if you do this tour, to confirm a few days prior so the same thing doesn't happen.

Eating through St. Thomas
Elizabeth_S
, Apr 2022
We had a very nice walking tour with Jane in April. We visited My Brother’s Workshop and ate some rum cake, E’s Garden Teahouse, Glady’s Cafe, a local place overlooking the bay for empanadas, and a painkiller at a local bar. Overall it was a nice tour with ample food. The stop at the tea house was a little awkward and seemed too long with talks of politics and hurricanes. I would have loved to learn more about where the tea comes from or the history of the building. We spent a little too much time there. But the rest of the tour was very enjoyable.

We enjoyed the info from Jane. It should be called a snack tour. Not much food. The people who participated were great, The food fell short of our expectations.

Gerard is an outstanding guide! He is very knowledge about the history of St Thomas and the surrounding islands. It was fun trying different foods. The rum cake at MBW was yummy and we especially appreciate how they help inspire the kids on the island. We also tried salt fish, meat pie, yummy soup and a painkiller cocktail among other things. It was a great day and we’d highly recommend it!

Perfect downtown tour!
Whitney_L
, Jan 2022
We really loved this tour. Gerald was right on time and was a wealth of information about so much of St Thomas' history. Along our walking tour we tried saltfish, salad and raspberry tea at E's Garden Teahouse, a slice of rum cake from MBW, callalou, fungi and rice with curry chicken from Gladys' and beef pattes at a tiny corner joint mear the Greenhouse, then finished off our tour with a painkiller at Amalia Cafe. We really enjoyed how easy conversation was, how knowledgeable Gerald was and his kindness when I had to step away a couple times to tend to issues back home. I would DEFINITELY suggest this tour to anyone wanting to see downtown Charlotte Amalie. It was delicious food and Gerald made the experience filling us with a wealth of knowledge of the city.

Great Tour!!

This was a really fun and knowledgeable tour. So much history in St Thomas it's lovely. One review said to not eat before you come but I would suggest you have breakfast if you are doing the afternoon tour. A good amount of food is given but you won't be completely full lol. Great drinks and the owners of these locations were a joy. We wanted to stop back at 3 of the 4 different locations for sure.

Cultural appreciation and excellent food
Nikki_G
, Dec 2021
Taking this tour on our first full day on the island was incredibly helpful. We learned about the past and present from locals as well as great places to repeatedly eat and drink after our tour. Gerard is a knowledgeable and patient guide and we did end this tour with a deeper connection to St.Thomas. This was not our first trip to the island but it was this tour that gave us a greater appreciation of what the island offers. We went back to Gladys and the bar in Palm Passage twice after our tour. When we were not in the mood for alcohol or a meal but wanted a cool spot to hang out, we returned to E's Garden teahouse which has an excellent art gallery in a relaxed setting.

We love the fact that our guests find those out of the way places so many others miss. Thanks, Gerard
