Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Meet your guide and fellow foodies in central Sorrento, the seaside town's main square, to begin this tasty food tour. Let your local food-loving guide lead you through the streets of central Sorrento, explaining the food culture of the city and regaling you with interesting historical anecdotes.

During the tour, stop at several different spots: from eateries to delis, markets to dessert destinations. With Mount Vesuvius as the backdrop, stroll the streets of this charming city taking in the colorful sun-kissed houses and palaces.

The first stop is to sample the shell-shaped filled pastry called sfogliatelle at a pastricceria. But don't fill up too fast because next up is a hot-pressed sandwich known as a panini and then pali'e riso, a fried rice ball and a Neapolitan version of arancini.

Walk through a lemon grove and visit a limoncello factory, learn how limoncello is made, taste it and other liquors and lemony treats. Walk on to a family-run deli to munch on some creamy buffalo mozzarella and some cured meat, known as salumi. Wash it down with a few sips of locally brewed craft beer. Not satiated yet? Good, because the next stop is to sample some local pasta delights and wine at a trattoria.

Finish your feast with a stop at a gourmet gelato shop for a lick or two of Italian ice cream before walking off your meal back to the departure point.

Just what we needed on our first full day to discover the delights of Sorrento. More food than we could eat and from places we wouldn’t have known to go to without Tamara. We have since returned to the lunch venue for another delicious meal. Would highly recommend. Apologies to Tamara for us being slightly more hungover than we planned!

We had a fabulous time on this tour. Tamara was an informative fun gracious host. We loved the pastries at the start of the tour and we were definitely full by the end expecially as we all went for cocktails after :) Tamara has a great Rapport with all of the local restaurant owners and you could see how much she enjoyed her job. She went above and beyond and spent extra time with us and we even met her Italian husband who generously shared with us more delicious limoncello. All in all, a fun light informative tour of sorrento with a gracious host.

Great Tour with Delicious Tastings!
Californiadreaming64

We had wanted to get a lay of the land on our first day in Sorrento, so we booked this tour. It was already booked for the evening, so we did the morning one. It did not disappoint! Tamara was our guide, and she was so nice and very knowledgeable. As we walked along, she gave us a bit of history and also took of to a few areas that had nothing to do with food, just to explain the areas around us. The pace was nice and we never felt that we were rushed or stayed too long at any destination. We sampled lots of goodies, spent time in the lemon grove, and had a delicious sit down lunch of Caprese salad, baked gnocchi and wine. I don't understand the reviews complaining about the amount of food or the cost. There was plenty of food and I thought it was a very good value.

DONT DO IT
venicedelight

Do not even think about booking this tour with Sorrento Food Tour, or any of their tours. The guide was totally uninterested in the group, never spoke to us when walking place to place. We stood outside delis and bars while she served us a single bite of meat and cheese that were each a "tasting". There were never any napkins, plates or even toothpicks - greasy fingers only! Take tissues! You get to eat a fried rice ball in the middle of crowds with your fingers. The beer tasting was in an ounce paper cup filled 1/4. There was one restaurant and in a group of 7, 5 of us didn't eat our bland goopie meal. For the cost of over $80 there were 15 bites of food, 1 glass of wine, a drop of beer and gelato. Gelato was the only positive tasting of the tour. DONT DO IT!

To address your absurd comments, during the tour you did not interact with anyone until sitting down for dinner you spoke to another couple...perhaps that was the 4 glasses of wine you drank not only one as you indicated. I also explained to you specifically, the wines from this region and wrote down a list for you. This a tasting tour with over 13 specialties of ample size, most everyone is completely full at the end of the tour, according to our feedback and other reviews. Perhaps because most people actually eat the tastings instead of taking a bite and putting it back on the tray of others uneaten food and rolling their eyes. Classy. We do offer an arancini tasting in the street because it is considered “street food” and no one stands inside the location to eat it. All of the tastings have napkins or are plated, except the cheese and salumi have toothpicks. It is advised that fingers are safer as they tend to fall off the picks and on to the ground. Instead, you opted to wipe your hand on my jeans as the others gasped in disbelief. Then you had the audacity to request a refund from Viator. There is no reason to comment on any of our others tours since you did not take one fortunately. We interact with everyone in the tours, especially when reciprocated. After this tour I went with the other sociable guests to other venues. Being considerate of others and having a good time in a public tour is common knowledge or don’t sign up.
