The UNESCO-listed Angkor Archeological Site is a highlight of any visit to Cambodia, with temples and sculptures that sprawl across 150 square miles (400 square km.). This full-day, small-group tour makes it possible to explore the complex in one day with a professional historian guide. In addition to visiting Angkor’s architectural highlights, take in jungle-shrouded buildings.
Begin the day with pickup at your Siem Reap hotel, and travel to Angkor in an air-conditioned minivan. Spend the morning at Angkor’s most iconic sites, starting with Angkor Wat, where narrow stone passageways wind past bas-relief carvings and shrines. Find gold-shrouded statues tended by local monks, then climb the stairs into a central gallery filled with dancing apsaras figures. Continue to the southern gate of Angkor Thom: walk down a narrow lane guarded by 108 statues of smiling gods and fierce demons.
Discover the serene stone faces that stare down from the 12th-century Bayon temple, whose long bas-reliefs tell the dramatic story of Khmer victories against Cham warriors, then follow the richly decorated Terrace of the Leper King to the Terrace of Elephants.
Pause for lunch before exploring the maze-like Ta Prohm — this atmospheric site is also known as the ‘Tomb Raider’ temple — to find hidden chambers wrapped with creeping vines. This tour concludes with return transfer to your hotel.
Get picked up from your Siem Reap hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and head straight for the ruins. As you motor toward Angkor Wat, learn about its history as the world's largest religious monument, replete with Hindu-Buddhist architecture that took 30 years to complete. Follow your guide inside, glimpsing intricate stonework as you wander galleries that have been shockingly well-maintained.
Angkor Thom is the majestic site once served as the Khmer Empire's glistening capital city. Take a moment to consider its grandiosity before venturing inside the city. Arriving at the temple at Bayon, appreciate its beautifully crafted central towers covered in more than 200 enormous faces.
After lunch pay a visit to Ta Prohm—a temple set in the midst of the jungle. Wander the maze-like ruins of this ornate worship site, marveling at the fig trees that threaten to overtake the edifice. Absorb a late afternoon breeze and enjoy the peaceful, rural atmosphere before heading back to your hotel.
6 of us in this group tour and the guide, Vuth is a very experienced guide. Speak english well and make our tour a fun one. He was our photographer most of the time and plan the whole trip well.
Driver is also good in ensuring we are safe and have cool towels ready after each site visits. Highly recommended.
Our guide Mr. Sin Peng Eang was delightful. Picked up at time stated, warm welcome and comfortable van. Mr Sin was knowledgable and enthusiastic and made the day whizz by. The sights of Angkor are amazing and this was a great way to see them in a relatively short time. Lunch very tasty. Yes it was very warm, but there is iced water and wet wipes each time you return to the van. Also toilet breaks! Highly recommend.
You need to visit the temples with an amazing guide named Mr Sok Chea ! He is one the finest guide I have ever came across. From the history of the temples to taking amazing pictures, he is just perfect. Plus we were a nice lil group of 6 people. Perfect tour for a short stay in Siem reap.
This was a fantastic trip - Sin was a great guide with lots of interesting facts and knowledge! I could not believe how different each of the temples was, and was so grateful to get the opportunity to see some of these world heritage sites!
Our visit to Cambodia exceeded our expectations because of the hospitality shown by our tour guide Sak and driver Mao. We greatly appreciated the breadth of knowledge Sak had about all of the attractions as well as the culture and history of Cambodia. The tours were well paced and provided plenty of opportunities for taking pictures and admiring the views. We also appreciated the cold waters and wet towels waiting for us at the van after returning from our temple visits in the hot weather. Overall, we would highly recommend tours by Journey Cambodia and are very satisfied with our experiences here in this country.
It was good to have a small minibus group because this gave us the flexibility to adjust the itinerary to avoid the mass bus groups of mainly Chinese who flooded the temple entrances on a set schedule. Our knowledgeable guide took us to the less crowded temples first and we entered by the less used gates for a better guided tour; we saw all the main temples just avoided the hordes.
Amazing tour. Out of all tours we had during almost two weeks time in Cambodia and Vietnam - this tour guide was the best and most professional...shame I can not remember his name.Great value for money
Our tour guide Tann was amazing - extremely knowledgeable, cheerful, and patient. Was picked up from my hotel at the specified time, and after picking up the other guests & buying tickets for the temples, we reached Angkor Wat at about 8:45 AM. Tann took us through less crowded entrances and explained the history of the temples well. We were able to spend a good amount of time at all the temples thereafter (even had some time for lunch). Would highly recommend!
