Departure Time

6:15 AM
Your tour begins with pickup from your central Seville hotel or alternatively, from a meeting point in central Seville.

Settle aboard your air-conditioned coach and admire the rugged Andalucian countryside as you journey to Granada. Along the way, hear an introduction to your destination’s history, and learn how your route is the same as the one taken by the 19th-century American essayist Washington Irving, author of the famous Tales of the Alhambra.

Catch glimpses of the Alhambra Palace on your approach to Granada and, on arrival, enjoy a guided walking tour of this UNESCO-listed gem. Bypass the entrance lines with your skip-the-line ticket, and enjoy priority access to its main attractions, including the Alcazaba, Nasrid Palace, Generalife Gardens and Palace of Charles V.

A vision of Moorish architecture and art, this exquisite complex dates back to the 13th century, and was built as a royal city, court and retreat for Spain’s Moorish rulers. Admire the Court of Lions and Hall of the Ambassadors, and stroll around the enchanting courtyards, fountains and pavilions as your guide shares details of their history.

Next, drive to the center of Granada to enjoy lunch (own expense). Then, depending on your chosen tour option, take a guided walk of the UNESCO-protected Albaicin quarter, Granada’s old Moorish district.

Stroll down the narrow streets past whitewashed houses, churches, gardens and flower-filled balconies, and stop to take in the area’s spectacular panoramas over the hilltop Alhambra.

Afterward, hop back in your coach and drive back to Seville where your tour finishes at the start point.

The Alhambra
On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century, after the establishment of the Nasrid kingdom and the construction of the first palace, by the founder king Mohammed ibn Yusuf ben Nasr, better known as Alhamar. The fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers, which house two main areas: the military area, or Alcazaba, the barracks of the royal guard, and the medina or court city, the location of the famous Nasrid Palaces and the remains of the houses of noblemen and plebeians who lived there.

Stop At:
Alcazaba
The Alcazaba plainly served a military function. The entrance to the Alcazaba was at the foot of the Tower of Homage . At the base of the tower is a slight slope. A simple L-shaped walkway keeps the main gate from being seen from the outside.

Nasrid Palaces
The habitual residence of the kings of Granada, their construction began at the beginning of the 14th century. The Nasrid Palaces are a palatial complex formed by three buildings: - The Mexuar is the oldest hall. It was employed for meetings between the ministers of the king and as a courtroom. - Next, we come to the Palace of Comares, which dates back to the era of Yusuf I. This dwelling was erected around the Patio de los Arrayanes (Courtyard of the Myrtles), and its side exits lead to the Sala de los Embajadores (Hall of Ambassadors) and the Sala de la Barca (Hall of the Boat). The Hall of Ambassadors is located inside the Tower of Comares. - The Palace of the Lions, dating back to the era of Muhammed V, is also a royal residence. It is composed of a central courtyard, the Courtyard of the Lions, and halls along each side, the Hall of the Mocarabes, the Hall of the Kings, the Hall of the Two Sisters, the Hall of the Ajimeces, leading on to the mirador Daraxa viewpoint, and the Hall of the Abencerrajes, along with the Harem.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At:
Barrio del Albaicin
The Albaicin is a “barrio” (a neighbourhood) of Granada which has been built on a hill opposite the Alhambra. The layout came about when Granada was ruled by the Arabs long before the advent of cars so the streets form a narrow cobblestoned maze interspersed with small squares. The geranium filled balconies, glimpses of the Alhambra at every turn, the silence and the sound of running water in numerous fountains all give the Albayzin a romantic slightly enchanted atmosphere.

Long day but great and informative

We enjoyed this tour a lot. It's long and exhausting, but totally worth it. If Alandalucian is something you are interested in, this is definitely a great one.

Sour memories of Alhambra

We had purchased online tickets almost a month before for our day trip from Seville to Granada. We called a day earlier to set up an appointment for bus pick up from hotel. We were told by tour operator that pick up was at 8:20 am and not 6:00 am as advised by e-mail. The bus was punctual and the tour guide Ramon met us. The 3 hour bus ride from Seville to Granada was smooth and Ramon (bi-lingual in Spanish and English) explained Spanish history and agricultural products. There was a brief rest stop in between, We arrived in Granada and were taken to tour office where a different guide took over to guide us to Alhambra palace, Generallife, and Nasrid Gardens. The head phones given to us were in very bad shape. The audio was not clear. The guide was very lackadaisical in his approach, did not seem to like his job, He did not provide much history just said these are the gardens, this was the bedrooms, He kept repeating that there were originally 6 palaces and now only two were left. He took us to a shop (not part of the tour, but as a special incentive saying that we will get a snack, wine and bathroom break). The people in the shop were very snotty and their products overpriced. The snack and wine was cheap. Most of our tour group just waited outside. After the Alhambra trip (3 hours) the bus picked us up and took us up to Albacin. Our guide Ramon took the people who paid for the Albacin tour and the rest of us were left on our own to find the sights for a couple of hours. The bus picked us up at a previously arranged meeting point and started back to Seville. We again had a stop at the previously mentioned rest stop. Finally at the end, our family and one another family were not dropped off at the hotel by the bus, instead we were taken to the tourist office and dropped off by a employee in her car. It was irritating because we were 0.5 miles from our hotel when they were dropping of other groups but because of poor planning on their part we were dropped off an hour later. It left a sour note at the end of a super long day. In the end, because of the poor guide at Alhambra, very bad audio head sets, poor planning on the part of the tour company we did not feel the trip was worth the money we paid for it.

Never again. Go elsewhere. Rude staff.

I would not recommend this agency for any tours moving forward. It's very misleading to state hotel pick up and drop off in the sense that you think that you will be picked up and dropped off from your hotel or airbnb. Instead, the agency will tell you to meet up at a hotel of THEIR choosing. And they know this and intentionally mislead their customers. Secondly, such poor communication on the agency's part. I reached out to them 3-4 times asking what time we had to get ready by and did not heard back until the night before. And then I found out that my 75 year old mother had to walk 30 minutes (or I had to pay for taxi) to get to their hotel. On the way home, I asked the driver drop us off (he would have had to drive 5-7 minutes down the road) so that my mother wouldn't have to walk back. Instead, the driver refused and was super rude about it. I had another tour booked with this company and I immediately canceled that one. Plenty of other tour companies in the area that wouldn't mislead you when purchasing the tour. Waste of $350!

it was a little frustrating to have the guide switch back and forth from English to Spanish. There was enough that could have been said in one language to fill the whole time of the tour.

Alhambra a must-see, hope you get a good guide at the site

The shuttle bus was large, clean, comfortable and new, with big windows. Roman, our tour bus guide, was wonderful. Professional, friendly, clear. We enjoyed his talks about Spain and what we were seeing as we travelled to Granada. Alhambra is a must-see, beautiful site for sure but, unfortunately, our guide was difficult to understand and not very good. He didn’t enhance the experience at all. Very disappointing, as I’ve gone on many Viator tours in many places and most guides have been outstanding, truly making the experience magical. Walking around Granada’s old section was lovely, quintessential Europe/Spain to me. Though we signed up for the optional walking tour, we chose to meander and explore on our own and it was lovely.

Antonio was a great guide. Very interesting and knowledgeable. Roman did the tour for the Albaicín and he was very good and informative. The restaurant that Roman recommended, Casa Gabriel was very good. One of the best meals I had in Spain. These 2 places are a must see when you go to Seville.

Perfect Granada Trip!

What an incredible trip! Roman is an excellent organizer and trip leader. He made sure that everyone was where they needed to be and got us to and from Granada safely. We loved getting lost in the Albaicin and the restaurant he recommend for lunch. The Alhambra tour was also exceptional. We didn't wait on any of the lines and they were very long. If for nothing other than the ability to skip the lines, I would purchase this trip. We had a different tour guide walking us through the Alhambra and the Generalife Gardens and he was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional.
