This Mt Rainier day trip begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Seattle or near the SeaTac Airport. Then prepare for a narrated, scenic drive featuring Alder Lake Park and the town of Eatonville at the foothills of Mt Rainier.

Stop at Longmire, the visitor center at the southwest corner of the park, to explore their museum and National Park Inn. Visit Christine Falls, with one of the signature views in Mt Rainier National Park (look for the bridge). Then walk along the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, considered the most popular waterfall in Mt Rainier State Park. It’s taller than Niagara Falls at 188 feet.

Then it’s off to the pinnacle event of the day: the view at Paradise, which is 5,400 feet above sea level. Purchase lunch here and take in the incredible view of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Be on the lookout for wildlife wandering around the mountain at any time.

During the wintertime, choose from an optional snowshoe or sled adventure, if conditions allow. During the summertime, simply enjoy the scene at Reflection Lake, which provides one of the most iconic views of Mt Rainier. It’s absolutely stunning. Be sure to bring a camera.

Finally, visit the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise to learn more about the history of Mt Rainier, including a brief film about it.

Then it’s back down the mountain to hit the road back to Seattle.

I would highly recommend...

I would highly recommend signing up for this tour if you're on the fence on which tour group to go with. My guide for the trip was James, who did an excellent job showing us around the park and leading us around the various trails. James was also very entertaining while we were on the road, sharing interesting facts about the different landmarks along the way. I was surprised by how natural of a tour guide he was, especially since he only started doing these tours recently. We ended the day with a delicious slice of blackberry pie from Copper Creek Inn. I was a solo traveller and thoroughly enjoyed my experience in the day trip. For improvements, I would say the hike we did at Paradise was a bit challenging as it was very slippery to walk on the melting snow, and would likely have been a lot easier if hiking poles were available for the whole group to use.

John our driver and narrator we both skilled at driving and extensively knowledgeable about MT Ranier. He knew all of the best photo spots was learned on the geological history of Ranier and was funny to boot. We had a great time and the 12 hour excursion went by in a flash. Thanks to John

Beautiful Day on the Mountain

We were able to hit the highlights in the park in one day and didn't need to rent a car. Our guide, Joel, was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the plants, animals, and history of the park. He was so helpful, taking family photos for us and stopping halfway to the park so we could purchase a lunch and some coffee! Fyi: If you plan to hike to the Paradise overlook, you need good hiking boots or spikes even in late June! I would also suggest an extra pair of dry socks.

Thank you so much for the review of our tour for Joel. We also appreciate your suggestions to others.

A perfect day on Mt Rainier

This was an amazing trip! Our tour guide, Cody was friendly, humorous, and a wealth of knowledge. We were picked up from our hotel and as we drove to Mt Rainier he pointed out sites along the way. We stopped at a grocery store to pick up fixins for lunch on the mountain. Once we were in the park there were so many stops and opportunities for exploring, picture taking, relaxing, hiking and whatever else you wanted to do. We never felt rushed. And for us ladies there was plenty of bathroom breaks. Cody was very accommodating and I highly recommend this tour.

Thank you for the review and we are glad you enjoyed the entire experience. Unfortunately we do not have a guide by the name of Cody, but maybe you meant Cory 😊

Lucas was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the area and provided many personal experiences to help us connect with the area. He also included multiple stops on the way out of the park at local businesses that provided a unique experience that allowed us to enjoy some of the local fare.

Amazing!
Morgan_P
, Jun 2022
This trip was amazing— especially because of my tour guide, Lucas. He had jokes; he had stories; most importantly, he had passion. We got lucky because the top of the mountain was in full view at Paradise! If you are in the area, I highly recommend taking this tour. It’s a different experience each time you go which makes the tour feel more personalized. I definitely hope to go one August so I can see the wildflowers.
icon Response from Host , Jun 2022
Thank you for the review. Yes every tour is different based on the guide, customers aboard and weather. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your time with Lucas.
