This Mt Rainier day trip begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Seattle or near the SeaTac Airport. Then prepare for a narrated, scenic drive featuring Alder Lake Park and the town of Eatonville at the foothills of Mt Rainier.

Stop at Longmire, the visitor center at the southwest corner of the park, to explore their museum and National Park Inn. Visit Christine Falls, with one of the signature views in Mt Rainier National Park (look for the bridge). Then walk along the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, considered the most popular waterfall in Mt Rainier State Park. It’s taller than Niagara Falls at 188 feet.

Then it’s off to the pinnacle event of the day: the view at Paradise, which is 5,400 feet above sea level. Purchase lunch here and take in the incredible view of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Be on the lookout for wildlife wandering around the mountain at any time.

During the wintertime, choose from an optional snowshoe or sled adventure, if conditions allow. During the summertime, simply enjoy the scene at Reflection Lake, which provides one of the most iconic views of Mt Rainier. It’s absolutely stunning. Be sure to bring a camera.

Finally, visit the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise to learn more about the history of Mt Rainier, including a brief film about it.

Then it’s back down the mountain to hit the road back to Seattle.

Great hiking experience with easy transport from Seattle, but trip doesn't enforce Covid restrictions.

Trip was amazing! We had wonderful weather and got to see many sites and enjoy hours of hiking. Our guide provided snow shoes and the hiking was really wonderful. My only complaint is that our guide didn't wear a mask at all during the experience and when other members of the group took and left theirs off, there was no mention that they should be wearing them, per local guidelines. I anticipated brief periods of people taking their masks off to eat or drink, but I was frustrated when people had their masks off the entire ride home, which was several hours.

We had an excellent and most memorable trip to Mt. Rainer with Joel - he was awesome! Super informative, great communicator and even bought us cupcakes, and took us out for blackberry pie that was insanely good! We went snowshoe hiking and it was an amazing experience!

Mt Rainier is majestic. Beautiful park. Lucas our tour guide is knowledgeable and has great sense of humor. He gave us plenty of time for bathroom breaks and to get food. Hiking through snow was exhausting but it’s an experience I will never forget.

Lucas was our tour guide and did a great job going over the geography and history of the area. Due to poor weather, we had to improvise a bit. We enjoyed the Wonderland trail, seeing Elk, and stopping for blackberry pie a la mode at a local restaurant.

Thank you for your review. Even with the poor weather we are glad you enjoyed the tour.

Wet and Cold, But our Guide Lucas Was Awesome

, Dec 2021
The trip was really awesome due to our driver and guide Lucas who spoke the whole way to Mt. Rainier about Seattle, the mountain, wildlife, and jokes that were family friendly. Unfortunately for our group, part of the mountain was closed off and it was rainy and ice slush the whole time we were out at the base of the mountain. I would not recommend going during the winter months unless you know the weather of the mountain. It honestly made everyone cold and wet which sort of ruined part of the experience. However, I gave this 4 stars because Lucas was the best guide and kept trying to help lighten the mood and enjoy the trip.

Yes the weather during the winter season is truly unpredictable. I am glad everyone was able to make the best of the day and enjoyed time spent with Lucas.

Hiking day in Mt. Rainier

, Dec 2021
Great time spent learning about Mt. Rainier. Our Guide was extremely knowledgeable. The snow/icy road to Paradise Valley was closed, so it was limited to hikes, near the 2 rivers. Fairly quick paced hikes. Quick pickup & drop off at our hotel was much appreciated. We hiked 6 miles, had the option of sitting any out, we chose to do all 3. The last one was a bit strenuous. Beautiful day lucked out , no rain!!

I am glad your group was still able to have a great experience even with the road closure heading up to Paradise. Thank you for the review!
