Terrific Tour and Willy Was Wonderful

, Mar 2020
Our tour with Willy exceeded our expectations. This full day tour included a stop at a llama farm, Casablanca Valley viewpoint, tour of the Pablo Nerudo house, colorful Valparaiso, a ride on the funicular and lunch at the picturesque Vina Del Mar. Willy was very friendly and entertaining with a vast knowledge of the areas we visited. He answered our endless questions regarding historical and cultural facts of Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar. Would highly recommed this tour and especially Willy when in Santiago.

Lunch watching the Pacific Ocean

This experience was very informative. Our guide, “Romi” was very helpful and knowledgeable about the areas we were visiting and her English was very clear. Our driver was excellent in all of the traffic. I would Recommend this trip to others. The only confusion was on the way back from Valpro it was stated that we would stop at a winery. This did not happen and no explanation for this change was provide to us for why we didn’t stop. Lunch facing the Pacific Ocean was great.

Hello, we are glad you liked the experience, however this tour does not include a visit to a winery. There may have been some confusion, but Romi is an excellent guide.

Beautiful Valparaiso

We booked a tour to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar on recommendation from friends and were not disappointed. Our tour guide Rowena was fluent in English and took the tour at a casual pace, suiting our walking abilities. We would do the Valparaiso tour again without hesitation, walking downhill through laneways and streets with beautiful old buildings mostly covered in beautiful graphics. The whole experience was without fault, extremely comfortable and well worth doing

It was a convenient and easy way to checkout Valparaiso and Vina del Mar and our guide was personable, making this a pleasant trip. The walk around the beautiful neighborhood for Valparaiso was great thigh a bit rushed.

Valparaiso is a very interesting destination with a great history and is very picturesque. Vina del mar is more like a summer holiday destination. Our tour leader was excellent. The transport was modern and clean.

Our guide Franko and the driver were very professional. The heart of the tour was some good walking around colorful Valparaiso, art areas, Neruda house, funicular--only negative was Spanish repeated in English, but questions were well answered. Long day, well spent

Full day tour Valparaiso and Vina del Mar

I want to say how much I enjoyed our tour guide, Jose, who was very friendly and accommodating to my mobility issues. However, his command of English was not particularly strong which may have led to some misunderstanding. We never stopped at or heard any information about the Moai. Our vehicle was over crowded with 15 people and I was jammed in so tight I couldn't use my seat belt. The air conditioning was weak. We were disappointed that the majority of our fellow travelers did not want to actually enter La Sebastiana; having people vote at the last second about that decision is very unfair to those who had hoped and looked forward to seeing Pablo Neruda’s house.

Good Guide very bad driver

Yes the guide was good but the driver should not be driving tourist. He was speeding excessively and generally driving and bad driving habits. He is bad for your company I left my flask in his bus I phoned him this morning to ask to please bring it to my hotel, wants to charge me 20.00 US$, yet he told me yesterday that he lives two blocks from my hotel. I will still use your company as long as Willie does not drive me Regards

Excellent driver under very trying road conditions due to disturbances on roadways in Santiago and the Immaculate conception pilmagrage on the roadway. Excellent knowledge, humor, driving abilities, and stops that made the trip highly enjoyable. One of the best tours/drivers we have ever had.

The tour operated well, pick up and drop off from our hotel was very prompt. The sites were enjoyable and the walking part of the tour a great experience. Unfortunately the tour guide was not fully fluent in English so the explanations were a bit confusing. But altogether good value and nice sites to see. Good communication with the local tour company.

Valparaiso is a Photographer’s Delight
Maria_M
, Nov 2019
My Valparaiso and Viña del Mar tour was a group/shared tour but I happen to be the only guest so it practically turned into a private tour. My guide,Joseph and driver, Willy picked me up promptly. Due to unpredictable times at Santiago due to the current political unrest, we aimed to return to Santiago at least an hour earlier about 3:30 pm. We headed to Valparaiso first, en route, Joseph enthusiastically gave me historical information of places we passed and Chile in general. He is knowledgeable and good at his job. He volunteered to take my pictures during the tour which is appreciated. Valparaiso is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the colorful homes and street art filled streets. We walked through the most interesting areas. It was any photographer’s delight for sure. We drove next to Viña del Mar and after stopping at the Flower Clock, we went to a Restaurante Los Pomairinos for lunch. The meal was good. I ordered a grilled Reinta fish, rice and a pisco sour. Prices seemed reasonable until I was asked what sauce to add to the fish, I went for the waiter’s recommendation of Creamy Fish sauce. I thought this was part of the fish order. Only to find out later it was an additional US$7 charge. A simple lunch meal cost me close to US$30 later on. Viewed the menu of another restaurant (Onces Brighton) in Valparaiso with amazing views of the sea and they gave lunch specials that included a drink/pisco sour, entree and dessert and it was less than US$14.00. Only disappointing part of the tour was the overpriced restaurant.

Friendly, informative and jovial from the time they picked us up at 8.30 to drop off at 5.30pm Carolina was the best, nothing was too much trouble, explained things in detail and helped some with bargaining for souvenirs. Our driver was great and very polite and made the trip a pleasure. Thoroughly recommend this tour and is excellent value for money.

Skip the tour; visit Valparaíso on your own
Cynthia_H
, Oct 2019
Skip this tour; instead, take one of the bus companies that will drive you straight to Valparaíso and explore the lovely town on your own—very doable with all the guides and blogs available. This tour was a comedy of errors. First, we never received confirmation of pick up time at our hotel so were quite early waiting. Second, and most seriously, the tour guide was ill, coughing and sneezing and using her hand to help people out of the van. We had two small children, including an infant, one senior citizen, and at least one person with a chronic medical issue stuck in the same van for hours with the guide and exposed to her virus or bacteria. Keep in mind these were all tourists who could contract whatever she had and take it to their respective home countries. She was also exposing the driver (who was terrific, by the way, very professional and on the ball). I hope the company Viator contracts with provides adequate compensated sick leave. Third, the van was extremely uncomfortable. Ergonomically horrific for a ten hour tour. Our backs and tushes were aching halfway through. Fourth, lunch was way too late. We understand in Chile, people have lunch later, but considering the tour started early and didn’t include breakfast, 2:30pm was tough, especially for those who need to time their medications with meals. The restaurant also was overpriced (meals not included in tour) and subpar food. Fifth, the flower clock was underwhelming, and sixth, the “winery” was just a gift shop and not worth the stop. Seventh, very little historical context was offered to enrich the tour, and eighth, the tour guide referred to the adult women on the tour as “girls,” which was condescending (notably she did not address the adult men as “boys”). I’ll note the tour guide was friendly and gave helpful tips, but those two items—her illness and the “girls”—were sticking points. I’ll also add nobody tipped the tour guide or the driver until we did—not cool, folks. Even on subpar tours, these guides and drivers work hard and need to make a living. However, Valparaíso is beautiful and well worth the excursion—on your own. It is a bohemian city of art, colorful, scenic, definitely check out the sweet shop (follow the ant symbols painted along the sidewalk) for the hard candies, and just absorb all the hidden treasures, from the murals to the painted and mosaic staircases. A true jewel to visit.

It was ok overall. Not much time to explore. The highlight of this your is the murals in this citu - that was amazing and very artistic! Vina del Mar was a disappointment, nothing much to see except the flower clock. Could have spent more time in Valparaiso.
