Chile seized land in the north with valuable mineral resources (saltpeter and copper), trashed Lima, and pushed Bolivia back from the seacoast into land locked status. Anyone wondering about whether these successes are important and well-remembered should spend some time looking up this quite impressive monument to the victory and its leaders. This is worthwhile!

Janine was the best! We spent a most informative day with her and her partner and felt that we saw the best of Valparaiso which is a most colourful and artistic city with the most amazing street art and decorated houses. But she also shared the recent political and social history of the city and country that was factual and accurate, and she made it very interesting. A great day out with a charming woman, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Ask for Janine and have a great day!

The trip to Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar was very enjoyable, and Patricio was a very good tour guide. The wine tasting was a little disappointing because it was at a wine store and not an actual winery.

We took this tour because we wanted to see the coast with limited time and because my mother is in a wheelchair, and the only way she could see these cities on a hill was through the car, which we appreciated a lot. Our guide was very accommodating and made sure my mom could see as much as she wanted despite her limited mobility. We loved seeing the street art and historical sights of both towns. The lunch though not included was very good. I say plan to spend 50 USD for both people. The only thing we were not a huge fan of was the stop at the shop before Valparaíso and Viña. Other than that, for the price 100 each, not sure why it advertised as 55 per person on the website was worth it.

Patricio was our guide, had a good driver too. Pros of the tour: several stops in the cities for different interest points and an amazing lunch with a view at the castle restaurant by the sea, near the Sheraton. Cons: first stop wine tasting is not, it's a potty break. No seat belts in the van.

This is a great trip outside of Santiago for those who have the time. Firstly, the only thing we would change in the trip is the wine tasting. It is exceptionally commercial and didn't provide any great insight into the wine from Casablanca Valley. This was more of a bathroom break to be honest. Other than that, our guide was courteous, offered assistance and had great inside information about both Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar. Both towns contradict each other, with Valparaiso having a bohemian feel compared to the extravagant Vina del Mar. If you have the time to go outside of Santiago, then this trip provides some interesting insights into what life is truly like outside the capital. PS - lunch is at an amazing venue in Vina del Mar and was certainly a highlight! The other unexpected highlight was seeing one of the original statues from Easter island, which was incredible.
