Great Outdoor Trip

A very enjoyable trip to the rain forest area. A moderate difficulty hike to get to a river waterfall area for swimming. The hike was nothing too strenuous so you don't need to be a serious outdoors person, but if you have mobility issues it will be a problem. Having water shoes is very helpful. The swimming area is lovely and a nice place to spend a couple of hours. Our guide Rafael was terrific. Lots of interesting information about Puerto Rico and he was super helpful throughout the tour.

Rainforest was fabulous but too much waiting around and restaurant was terrible

We absolutely loved the actual hike into the rainforest, especially swimming in the waterfalls, riding the waterfall slide, and swinging on the rope. Unfortunately, we stood around waiting for about an hour before we ever even started the hike. Apparently there was a mix-up and we had to wait for another family to arrive. The dinner stop was terrible. Our guide had us give her our order so she could submit it 20 minutes before we arrived. Over an hour later, some of the food showed up. Other food took another 30 minutes to arrive. The service at the restaurant was terrible. The food was expensive and definitely not worth it. We would have been preferred to be dropped off at the location with an hour to do whatever we wanted (eat at any place, play at the beach, etc.).

Dear guest, Thank you for your honest review. We don't hear complains about the food often. Please know that we are investigating this further and looking to resolve this issue for future guests.

Fun & Informative

We were a small group of 4 with 1 child and it was incredibly enjoyable! We were all happy with our guide, Rafael, who was very knowledgeable and patient. Pick ups and drop off was smooth. I highly recommend this tour for children and adults. Hiking under the canopy was not too long and beautiful. It led us to an amazing river where we swam, jumped of rocks of different heights and swings as well. Later we all endulged in a few tropical fruits put together by out guide. To wrap up the excursion Rafael led us to a nearby cliff and natural slide. It was invigorating and my daughter who is almost 9 enjoyed every minute of it as we did too! THANK YOU SO MUCH RAFAEL!! YOU ARE AWESOME!

Loved this trip.Great tour guide, perfect for all ages- our full tour group ranged from college students to retirees. seasoned hikers to absolute novices. And it was fun for everyone. I think it is a must see if you are visiting PR. While you can get there on your own, I definitely would not have been as adventurous/had as much fun without our guide.

We take out all ages and people from different walks of life to enjoy the beautiful forest and indeed, it is safer and more interesting when you have a guide with you.

Great Natural Pools

This is a good tour. However, if you are expecting a long hike through the forest, this is not it. It is a pretty short hike to the waterfalls, rock slides and the natural pool. Once you get to the falls, the bulk of the tour is about swimming in the natural pool, rope jumps, cliff jumps and rock slides which were awesome! If you want to do only hiking, this is not it. Wear your swim stuff under your clothing and take your watershoes or prepare your shoes to get wet (wasn't prepared for that!). The guide Alejandro was very attentive and knowledgeable!

It is not a hiking focussed tour no, it is about a 20 min hike. But challenging and beautiful enough to enjoy it! You indeed will get mudy and wet in the rainforest :) Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review and we hope to see you back in future!

Carlos was awesome

We were fortunate to have both a great group and a fantastic guide Carlos. Our guide happened to live very close to where the tour took place and was more knowledgeable than i feel most other guides would be. Be sure to bring footwear suitable for both hiking and getting wet. Its pretty much guaranteed youll hike through some water.

I had a wonderful experience. I completed the tour with Tashia. She was so wonderful and friendly. We didn't stay at a hotel and didn't know what to expect in terms of us getting picked up, but she picked us right at our Airbnb. On the way to the rainforest we stopped at a charming side of the rode fruit store. Then on the drive to the rainforest she was very informative and knowledgeable as a guide telling us things about the local area. The hike itself wasn't that look or too strenuous for me as a young relatively fit person. The path was pretty muddy, so expect to get dirty. Then we got to the swimming hole at the river and had plenty of time to relax and enjoy the water. Tashia was friendly enough to cut up fresh fruit to snack on while there. After the hike she took us a strip with tons of restaurants, with lots of verity, and the food was delicious. Tips are wear your bathing suit under clothes on the hike in. Have bug spray, and sunscreen. Wear long pants to prevent put bites. Be prepared to get very muddy. Have good sneakers you don't mind getting dirty. Bring a back pack with a towel, watershoes or flip flops because the ground at the swimming hole is rocky. Bring a change of clothes to keep with you in the car that you can change into after the hike. I would recommend this tour to everyone.

If you're looking to see just see the sights, pick another tour. If you're looking for a taste of what it's like to actually travel through a rainforest on foot, THIS is probably the tour for you. Manuel was a very good guide, informative and attentive to safety for all. Expect this tour to be weather-sensitive...subject to cancellation and/or re-schedule due to weather conditions. Expect mud, slippery roots/rocks,and generally wet/humid conditions. Choose your clothing/ footwear carefully leave the flip flops in the tour van! Expect that you WILL traverse MOVING water more than once, and that water MAY be as high as your waist and contain some slippery rocks. Bring your own liquids for the tour it's not supplied. If you bring your phone/camera for photos, consider some type of waterproof protection.

This was an excellent alternative to the larger party groups that descend upon El Yungue. It is a bit boring travelling from San Juan to the rain forest but our guide kept us engaged and we had a couple of stops en route to break the monotony. By using a private entrance we avoided the hoards and had a lovely pool with both a rock jump and a swing. Lunch comprised fruit that each of us had bought at roadside stalls and was expertly prepared by our guide. The only aspect I would have changed is extending the time allocated to grab some lovely ethnic food on the return leg. Rushing my meal was disappointing. Overall a great experience with a wonderful guide.
