The hike through the rain forest is a must! Felix was our guide. This group uses two guides which makes the hike and water experience much safer. I am glad I read the reviews. It was worth taking my hiking boots just for this adventure. I made sure to pack a trash bag to pack the wet hiking boots in for the return trip home. Several of the hikers wore tennis shoes and said they were happy with them. The hikers in water shoes and sandals struggled a little with the hike but had an easier time in the water. The hike to the waterslide waterfall is about 1.5 miles. There is climbing and slick areas. The waterslide was fast and furious and the landing can be tricky with the river currents. The 30-foot cliff jump is optional and a lot of the hikers conquered their fear of heights and took the plunge. After, we ventured back down the river a little way and visited another jump point with smaller cliffs. The water is plenty deep to dive headfirst. There is also a rope swing to play on in this pool. The hike back to the parking area is another 1.5 miles, again, I was thankful for my hiking boots, but at this point, they were soaked! Take a change of clothes or socks and shoes. When you get back to the parking area, there is a small building that has a bathroom and bar. We bought a few beers and maybe a shot of rum. After the hike, we went to a strip that has 60 restaurants and a bit of shopping. Pick your poison here! There is so much to choose from. We found out we could add on a kayaking tour and Felix made a few phone calls for us and we were able to visit the bio bay as well. Absolutely worth it!

El Yunque -Off the Beaten Path
Militza
, Apr 2021
We had an amazing time!!! Everything that was advertised was provided. Felix and Christian provided great suggestions to follow to make sure we were safe. We doubted the suggestions at first and once in El Yunque found out that the guides were right. They were both constantly checking for the welfare of all participants. The climb, the water slides and the rope jump were a unique once in a lifetime experience. We climbed over rocks and waterfalls.. We also had the opportunity to drink from a filtered fresh water spring that came from the mountain. The guides made us feel like family and everyone in the group connected despite being from all over the US. If you have the opportunity to come to Puerto Rico, excellent hiking tour to take.

Dear Militza, We are very happy to learn this was a memorable experience for you. We appreciate your sincere opinion and for pointing the safety measurements the guides and staff take, as our team takes this seriously. This, along with the positive attitude to have fun are the key for a perfect day at El Yunque.

The Rain Forest like you wouldn't expect!
Willie_L
, Apr 2021
We booked this trip in early March 2021. We really didn't know what to expect, but let me tell you, it was A GRAND FUN DAY! Our host, Felix, and his co-workers, were funny, caring, experienced and epitomized the term "Familia", family, which was the theme of the day. They also provided us facts and knowledge abt the Rain Forest that you would never expect! We walked and hiked and swam for what felt like hours, but just a half day. Truly a memorable day! PLZ NOTE THE FOLLOWING: U will get wet and be muddy, so don't wear clothes you want to keep later, def bring a change of clothes; DO NOT take a backpack on the hike, it will get soaked, just leave it in the van/bus (locked in a secure parking lot) and change later; wear shoes/sneakers with good grip, you will be slipping and sliding anyway, try to give yourself some traction; DONT be afraid to jump from high points, it's easy and you'll feel great abt it; DO take a moment to take it all in, it's so lovely out there !

Dear Willie, thank you for sharing your experience with la familia from Bespoke at the rainforest, and reminding fellow travelers of the most important do’s and dont’s in order to have a perfect tour, just as described :)
