El Yunque adventure

The whole adventure was fun and beautiful. A surprise around every corner. We loved it. First time I Belly laughed in a long time. Great team building activity. The lunch, beach and cocktails that followed were the icing on the cake. Guide was funny, entertaining, and knowledgeable. My one piece of advice is that there-definitely should be an age limit...the hike was slippery and very steep at times, up and down. There was a family That had a 4 month old with them. I’m my opinion, that was very dangerous.....at least 4 people in our group slipped and fell. If that parent carrying that child had fallen, it could have been a disaster. I would definitely limit it to 10 and older

Lies. Unsafe. Waste of $

False advertising and nothing like the description. This tour had us picked up at 10:00a for what we anticipated it was going to be 5 or 6 hour. and then we drove around 2 hours picking up other guests. The van was full, the air condition blew out black particles because the air filter was dirty. Around 12:30p we went to a road side stop for food. It’s a beautiful Saturday in San Juan and by the afternoon we had been no where. The roadside lean-to/dump where we were encouraged to buy local has cats all over and near my feet as I ate. Then we went past the El Yunque rainforest entrance and instead went to this river location where no information was provided. Nothing was shared about being wet, muddy and strength and ability. This 1.5 mile walk to the cold river was through multiple mud puddles. You could not walk the trail without sinking up to your ankles in mud. The entire mile trek. This tour should have come with a description so that guests can choose whether to be that muddy; if they they have the physical strength to complete the walk. Something should have made clear this was not ADA compliant. The treacherous conditions were unsafe and it was not shared that you would ruin clothes and shoes completely. Miserable, cold, wet experience on what should have been a beautiful 82 sunny day on the island. Then we went to restaurants at La Quillo beach and it was approaching night. Once again the tour guide encouraged guests to buy from his 1 restaurant (which we did not). We stayed here for about an hour. Getting back on the bus around 7:15p and due to traffic arrived back to my hotel at 9:30p. This was nearly 12 hour day and none of that was disclosed. I also was forced to cancel my dinner reservations and this really ruined my time on the island. Lastly, this vendor Caribbean Breeze tours did not practice social distancing at any stop; the van was full of 20 people. He also told people they could take their masks off at the river and at the same time said everyone needed to remain close together on the trail. This vendor should not be used again.

Thank you for joining us in El Yunque Jacqueline! We are sorry to hear of your disappointment. The adventure is designed to show guests Puerto Rico's natural beauty and allow them to truly experience nature and hidden gems that contribute to the amazing culture. It in no way is meant to be portrayed in any other way than that. Licensed and certified guides are there for safety, guidance, and to make recommendations. However, the time in Luquillo or at the frutera are meant for guests to enjoy the culture of Puerto Rico in a way that is meaningful to them! We reach out to every guest prior to the adventure to coordinate pick up location, time, what to wear, expect, answer questions, etc. We also reach out to every guest after to request feedback of their day and recommendations moving forward. The responses are overwhelmingly positive, but we do recognize that this tour is not for everyone. Your review is incredibly valuable to future guests as there are multiple valid points! So thank you! Most important is that if you are looking for a tour that takes you from attraction to attraction by bus, this adventure is certainly not for you! This is meant for people to walk, climb, swim, slide, jump, and really experience the rainforest! There are many amazing companies that provide bus tours of the forest if that is what you are in search of. If you are looking for a smaller, more intimate group, please try to book during the week. Booking a Saturday, Sunday, holiday weekend, etc, is going to lead to large groups and a lengthier day. If you are staying in the san juan area, you will have longer transport time than if you are staying in the east closer to El Yunque. Old San Juan is roughly an hour and a half drive up into the rainforest. There is typically multiple stops as we try to accommodate each guest as much as possible! Of course weekdays will have less stops than the weekend. Lastly, El Yunque is a Rainforest. It does tend to rain and stay wet depending on the weather! As we experience nature, we are not walking on paved sidewalks and the trails can get muddy at times. We encourage everyone to bring shoes they don't mind getting wet and perhaps sandals, water shoes, or a change of shoes to throw on after the nature walk. Most people will have swimwear under comfortable clothes so that they can swim in the river, enjoy the slide, and rope swing! We also encourage people to bring a towel or change of clothes and bag they are welcome to leave on the bus. We also are happy to answer any questions prior to the adventure to make sure that you are set up for an amazing day in El Yunque!!
