What to Wear & Bring
• Cell phone (in the event that we need to contact you or you need to contact us prior to the excursion)
• Closed-toe shoes that can get wet/dirty, have good grip for hiking on wet surfaces, and provide comfort and support (no sandals, water shoes, or flip flops)
• Bathing suit (already have on)
• Comfortable hiking clothes that can get completely wet/dirty
• Towel and change of clothes
• Water bottle to refill throughout the day (provided if you do not have one)
• Camera (optional - waterproof only!)

Dinner Note: It is important that you eat a good breakfast prior to your pick up. Dinner will be around 4:00pm. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided on both the Rainforest and Bio Bay tour.

  • The difficulty level of this excursion is considered to be moderate to strenuous depending on your physical fitness level. It is very important that you are in good physical condition in order to participate and enjoy yourself. The terrain in the rainforest can be muddy, slippery, uneven and include river-wading, climbing large rocks and steep inclines. The kayaking can be strenuous when the current is strong and requires upper body strength. This excursion is recommended for guests with an active lifestyle. It is a long, but fun-filled day!
  • Maximum weight limit is 250 lbs per person and 425 lbs per kayak
  • Minimum age is 8 years old
  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level

This tour was everything I could hope for and more! As a solo traveler I felt welcomed and safe with my fellow tour mates and the host, Luiz. The El Yunque rainforest part is a once in a lifetime experience that included a moderate hike, rock water slides, rope jumping, etc. As someone who isn’t the strongest swimmer, I felt safe in the provided life jacket and confident and comfortable to partake in the activities. Luiz knew all the hidden gems in the rainforest and led us through! After the rainforest tour we had lunch at a wonderful restaurant with the freshest seafood and lots of options. After lunch we drove a little and then went kayaking. Since I was solo, I was nervous about kayaking at night alone but thankfully Luiz went with me! So appreciative of that since the kayaking part is with another company and your driver doesn’t technically have to participate in the kayaking. Kayaking during sunset through the mangroves was amazing. Unfortunately we didn’t see too much of the bioluminescence creatures because of the light but that was totally ok. Kayaking at night was a wild yet amazing experience. Overall, this tour was one of the best i’ve ever taken. it does require some physical fitness, strength and confidence but you will be so proud of yourself afterward and get to say you hiked and explored the El Yunque rainforest!

The forest was hands down the most beautiful thing i have ever seen. Our guides were so incredibly knowledgeable. Our 3 kids (preteens and teenager) enjoyed the entire trip from hiking to boating in the river. I would definitely recommend this to anyone regardless of adventurous experience

This trip was so fun! I arranged this for my sister’s bachelorette and everything went smoothly. The hike was intermediate but it was well worth it !!! The slides and cliff jump was so fun and everyone enjoyed.

As I'm a little late given my review, later is better than never. I really enjoyed this tour a lot. The funny thing is, I originally, specifically came to Purto Rico for the Bio Bay tour, but the crazy thing is (as this had both), the El Yunque Rain Forest tour became the actual highlight of my trip's adventures in the long run. I must first say that they were very professional to begin with. I was contacted ahead of time, like two days in advanced, before the tour began and I was asked to provide the address of where I was staying. At the time I was standing in another Air BNB but not yet in San Juan Puerto Rico yet. I was still out in Aguadilla (West Puerto Rico), but told them that I would make sure to let them know the place I would be staying at on the day of our tour (which the address would not be provided until I arrive). They actually made sure they stayed on top of me so I could provide that information as soon as it was available to me. The day of the tour, they came directly to the address I provided and actually picked me up from the Air BNB even when it turned out not to be one of the most easiest addresses to find, but they found it anyway. To me that displays a true sense of really caring about the people they are hosting and I really did appreciate that. I had another tour group later that was the exact opposit, so I can see and appreciate the difference. lol The other great thing they did was provide a preparation list of everything I needed to bring along ahead of time, while on this tour. As I said before, another tour group didn't tell me anything upfront, so I would go to place unprepared for what's to come. That's like me saying "Hey, get dress. I'm going to take you out." Then we go to a swimming pool but I never told you to grab any swimming trunks or a towel. lol My point is, I really appreciate this tour group for being so thoughtful and organized. Anyway once we actually got on the tour bus and the other participants and I finally arrived to our final destination, this tour suddenly became, the MOST EXTREEEEEME adventure I have ever been on in my life!!! lol Yes, prepare yourself to get super muddy, soaken wet and hopefully if you're lucky enough, you'll survive to the end. lol We went hiking through the Rain Forest, up hill walking through mud and clay. Bring your good shoes. lol... Once you get started there is no turning back and I don't want to give any spoilers but anyway, be prepared to climb huge slippery rocks, walk through rivers, swim against currents that's trying to carry you off in the opposite direction of where you're trying to go (against your will), slide down rocky waterfalls and jump from high up in the air from death defying feets, into death defying depths. Other than that, you're safe with people who care. lol The coordinators were awesome and other group members were really cool and well... it was a lot fun and you should try it out also. I forget to mention, once its all over and you're super tired and worn out, you head to another river (Bio Bay), to kayak in a water against currents once again. Long story short, as intense before everything before it, you're going to end up seeing something very magical by the end of the night. In the long run, it's way worth it. No more spoilers. You have to now go see it for itself. I recommend this tour to anyone headed to Purto Rico.

This tour is good for families! I'll give a pro and con list. Pro: Your whole day is planned out. The rain forest was beautiful. Your tour guides are friendly, especially Luis. The sights and views are amazing. You get to meet new people! The kayaking, make sure its a cloudy day because you can see the bio better that way! Con: I'm an experienced hiker, so for me, this was not 100% amazing. I felt like the tour guides were more like mothers and treated you like children more than anything. This for me was the biggest downfall, because who likes that? It felt rushed. When we were going up the sides of the rocks at the waterfall, not only did they tell you not to go explore, which the other tour group within the same company was doing, but they told you that you could only jump once then wait. I clearly didn't lol, but It just wasnt the let go kinda thing I wanted. I felt they pressured people and made us thin k we needed to listen to them at all times, even in the safe areas. And that wasn't okay... It def took away from the whole experience. The tour guides although nice, are not personal at all. This trip to PR for me was my first Solo Trip. I depended on the locals to be a back bone for the good and bad places to go ect. The tour guide Jamie asked me more than three times the same question and got the same response... the tour guide Jamie also when I went to talk to her, yes she's friendly, but she was not personal at all. To me it felt like a very money wanting tour just based on the fact none of the tour guides took it the extra step when I told them I was alone, to at least try and make me feel at home, and also the fast paced of the tour. You couldn't 110% enjoy it because of this. Jamie made me feel like I was bothering her when I talked to her, so I eventually stopped. Def depends on who you go with and who is on the tour bus with you. People can be unfriendly which is anywhere you go, but jsyk. Overall? Is it worth the money? If you're a beginner hiker going with a family or with friends, absolutely. If you're going solo or are an experienced hiker, wanderlust kinda person like me, I would not recommend it. My experience would've definitely been different if it was an outgoing group or/and outgoing driver. Also the waterfall thing.. I felt this def made the trip not worth the money spent. Hope this helps!
