Relax on the scenic drive to the Pacific coast, and satisfy your breakfast cravings with an onboard snack. At the coastal town of Puntarenas, hop aboard a boat and relax on the spacious deck for the ride to Tortuga. Feel the cool tropical breeze on your face and admire the verdant passing shoreline and aquamarine waters of the Gulf of Nicoya. Keep an eye out for dolphins and other marine life along the way.

Jungle-covered, gently sloping cliffs, and white sandy beaches welcome you to Tortuga Island. Once you step ashore, the day is yours to spend however you please. Relax and catch some rays on the island’s pristine beaches, or venture out into the crystal-clear waters for a swim. Snorkeling equipment, kayaks, and banana boats are all available to rent for a small fee. You can also head inland to explore Tortuga’s tree-shaded nature trails and try your luck at spotting native wildlife.

When you’re ready for lunch, enjoy a gourmet beachside buffet prepared by your guide. Savor a selection of fresh salads, grilled fish and chicken, and sides of rice, sautéed vegetables, and fresh fruit. Quench your thirst with water, wine or aromatic Costa Rican coffee. Get into the spirit of the tropics as local musicians provide upbeat island tunes.

After ample time on the island, return to the boat and continue relaxing on the ride back to Puntarenas. Take a coach back to San Jose and be dropped off at the door of your hotel in the evening.

This was awesome! The tour guide was friendly, and a lot was included in the tour. The lunch and snacks were good, but breakfast was not good at all. The beach was awesome. I wish there were more food options on the island. Lunch was included, but the gap between getting to the island and lunch was like 2 hours. I suggest bringing snackd.

The staff were great! The boat ride was awesome. The beach was a huge highlight of my time in CR. Great drinks and food. Absolutely loved this whole experience. The pick up and drop off was also super convenient.

Very nice trip. Expect a LONG day. Didn't get back to our hotel until 930pm. Great staff. Very friendly and attentive. Beach was nice. Lunch and snacks provided. Would suggest eating a good breakfast. Boat ride was a party going to the island and very relaxing on the ride back.

Great beach experience

The lunch on tortuga Island is very good. The catermeran boat ride was very fun. Lots of music and dancing. We were given a bag breakfast for boat to island but no coffee. Had to unload in water so you have to have shoes off or water sandals. Our guide even though spoke English and Spanish kept going back and forth without finishing the topic in mid sentence and was confusing. Some of the instructions such as no alcohol sold on the island Wasn't the case at all And the website is not clear about all inclusive package and non inclusive and for 125.00 you have to pay a Lot of extras like for alcohol and beach activities. Wine was included with lunch.

Unforgettable Tortuga Island experience

I had such an unforgettable experience going to Tortuga Island. The trip was completely worth the drive/sail time. We had an amazing crew on board, great drinks and a DJ that kept the vibe upbeat for the whole trip. Tortuga Island itself is beautiful. A mix of beach and jungle that feels like a private island. Jordan, our tour guide, was the best! We don't speak any Spanish so he made sure to always come to us to translate what's going on. He introduced us to other passengers and even though there was a language barrier we were able to communicate (thanks to google translate) and have fun with them on the cruise. If not for him I would not have as much fun on the trip.

Good experience just a long and exhausting day. The tour was amazing and experience was well worth your money. The only thing I will say was that the group we were with were incredibly loud and unruly; screaming in people’s ears the entire time on the way back, playing music, not wearing masks well but that is not on the tour guide or company’s part. The tour guide even had to ask them to secure their masks. The food was really good and beach was clean. Make sure to bring water shoes since the water is very rocky. Make sure you drink lots of water and come well rested!

The tour was fantastic, the island is beautiful and the tour guide, Edgar, is very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. The boat trip to the island is good fun, with a dj and music as well as tons of refreshments. The lunch was good and we were very well taken care of, the staff always asked if we were okay, if we needed anything etc. I would 100% recommend. The only thing I'd say is prepare for a long day, as its a 2 hour drive and 2 hour boat trip each way, so it does mean its a whole day trip!

Long travels for 3 hours at the beach
Ralph_S
, Mar 2020
Incredibly long day. If you're coming from San Jose expect 5-6 hours to get there. After all is said and done you get a little over 3 hours at the beach. You have a small section blocked off for the beach and that is it. No place to walk and explore. This is strictly for tourists who want a mass tourism experience. The trip was not worth 12 hours of traveling in one day, in my opinion.
