See Alcatraz from above and explore the island prison on foot with this seaplane flight and Alcatraz combo tour. On a 30-minute aerial tour from Sausalito, you’ll see San Francisco landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf and the Trans-America Pyramid. Then take the Alcatraz Island ferry across San Francisco Bay, where you’ll tour the cellblock via the included audio tour. Choose the time of your Alcatraz tour when booking, and take the seaplane tour in the morning of the same day.
  • San Francisco sightseeing combo
  • Fly high above the bay on a 30-minute seaplane flight
  • Enjoy aerial views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, downtown San Francisco, Sausalito and Tiburon
  • Ride the ferry across the bay to Alcatraz
  • Explore the prison with an audio tour that features commentary from former inmates

Why Travelers Choose This Tour

Catch a seaplane from Sausalito, where you can look across the bay at Alcatraz before taking to the sky.
Seaplane flight:
Make your own way to Sausalito, or for added convenience take the provided shuttle from Fisherman's Wharf in San Fransico. Then meet your pilot and hop aboard the 6-passenger seaplane, which features large windows and high wings for unobstructed views and photo ops. As you take off from the water, fly toward the Pacific coast and down to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Then cruise over to downtown San Francisco, soaring past Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 and the Embarcadero. Enjoy views of the Trans-America Pyramid and Coit Tower, and circle over San Francisco Bay to Alcatraz Island and Angel Island. Fly past the waterfront hamlets of Tiburon and Belvedere before returning to Sausalito for a water landing. You can stay in Sausalito on your own, if you wish, to shop or grab a bite to eat, or head back to the city on the shuttle.

Alcatraz tour:
Board the ferry to Alcatraz Island at Pier 33 on the Embarcadero, and set off across San Francisco Bay, admiring views of the bridge and city skyline.

When you arrive on the island, put on your provided headset to explore the cellblock via the self-guided audio tour, 'Doing Time.' As you walk through the former prison, you’ll hear commentary from real inmates and staff about the history and living conditions of this legendary penitentiary. Learn about famous criminals like Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly, enter one of the jail cells, and hear about escape attempts.

You can stay at Alcatraz as long as you like, and return to Pier 33 by ferry when you’re ready; ferries depart about every 30 minutes.

Omg this was so amazing. The office staff and pilot were so nice, courteous and helpful. The pilot even let my son "fly" for a it, which was a highlight for him and us. The tour itself was fantastic and the pilot gave great commentary. All in all it was money well spent.

San Francisco from bird' s perspective

We enjoyed the trip very much and it was worth the money for sure. The pilot was very friendly and provide both interesting information on San Francisco' s history as well as great views over variety of parts of the town including Alcatraz. Just take into consideration, that the fog over the Golden Gate is very frequent, depends on the part of the day and also part of the year I suppose. The Alcatraz visit is a "must", the audio guide is very impressive and you will enjoy the building and its history a lot.

A Great Outcome for Alcatraz Tickets

We only took this flight as all other attempts to gain Alcatraz tickets through lower cost activities were unsuccessful. This ended up being a fantastic outcome. John was our pilot who showed us San Francisco from the sky. It was a beautiful morning and John shared his knowledge with us to cap off a great stay in this city. This is a must do but it is pricey.

This was the best decision ever! I booked this trip because it included the Alcatraz tour that was sold out everywhere else. The Seaplane flight was awesome. Great views, great service! They picked us up from the pier and transported us to our takeoff location. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Alcatraz was later in the day so we were able to easily plan our day without stress. The audio guided tour was included and excellent.

Excellent tour. Alcatraz is a must...

Excellent tour. Alcatraz is a must see when you go to San Francisco. The flight was not done on the scheduled day. It was foggy and we wanted to postpone it. Very nice people, accommodating our requests. We were given a second chance, two days later, when it was fog again, then, on the third attempt the weather was fine. Special thanks to the pilot, who tried and succeeded to put the plane in the best spots to allow us taking great pictures. I was offered the co-pilot's seat, which, indeed, I accepted with no hesitation.
