Best thing we did in San Francisco
, Mar 2020
This was a SPECTACULAR experience! Our tour guide Alan was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about San Francisco. His love of the city came thru during the tour and made the tour even more enjoyable. We saw many areas we would not have seen had we tried to do this on our own. He allowed us more time at certain stops of interest like the Painted Ladies, Twin Peaks and the Palace of Fine Arts. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see not just the standard tourist sites but the real neighborhoods of the city.
The tour was great it was very extensive for a 3 hour tour and covered so much of the city. Our tour guide/driver Alan did a fabulous job and was so full of information about San Francisco. There was no way could of seen everything we saw doing a hop on/off bus tour or cable cars.
I had done a tour of San Francisco before. In a large coach you get stops in the main sites including the Golden Gate bridge. This is a small old van. It will not take you to the Golden Gate Bridge even though you see it. It does make certain stops like the row of painted ladies houses and the old exhibition site. What makes it different is that the tour guide talks about the city as it is lived in and gives a good feel about the different districts. There is not a lot of tedious facts about the history of the city. It does orientate you well. This tour offers two completely different experiences compared to a coach. It takes you up to the highest point and you can see all San Francisco below. It also goes up and down the steep streets including Lombard Street. If you don't like roller-coasters this is not the tour for you. The van is unusual enough to be photographed by other tourists!
Our tour was excellent! Alan and Buttercup couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly.
Alan knew his details about the city and our son was able to contribute more to us as we drove.
The sights we saw and the roads and neighborhoods we traversed, were just what we were looking for in a tour, this day. Thank you very much!
