For this walking tour of Balboa Park’s highlights meet your small group on the west side of the park. Your guide is super familiar with the park and knows the best ways to help you see the most of the park in a short amount of time.

Head over to California Tower, one of San Diego’s most famous landmarks. Follow your guide’s lead into Alcazar Gardens and take in the scenery of colorful flowers and park fountains.

Next, we walk through the heart of the Prado to admire unique building facades and roof supports.

Pop into the Spanish Village Art Center before taking a break to grab a drink from a local coffee cart before continuing to the Botanical Building (closed on Thursdays) home to more than 2,100 plants.

After hitting up these hot spots, your guide takes you to the Plaza de Panama. Before you part ways, you can get an inside scoop from him or her about where you might want to go next. He or she is happy to give you recommendations for places to eat or tell you how to get to the Balboa Park Visitor Center.

Our tour was through Urban Adventures and our tour guide was Jennifer. It was just me and my husband, so ended up being a private tour for just the two of us. Jennifer is wonderful... really knows everything about the park, including lots of out of the way, interesting things we would not have seen otherwise. She's very friendly and is a wealth of information about travel in general. We will definitely look into using Urban Adventures in the future!

I thoroughly enjoyed my guided walking tour through Balboa Park. I met my guide, Jennifer, at the western end of the park, Sefton Plaza, and then over the next 2 hours, we moved eastward, and she explained the history and architecture of each significant building. She made the walk very interesting and had a very good knowledge of the Park. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.

What a good tour! Jennifer is very knowledgeable and entertaining, and I learned a lot about the history of the park, its beginnings, its architecture. My favorite part was finding the Spanish Village Art Center, an area of the park I had never seen, despite several previous visits. I think my return visits will be more rewarding thanks to her insights and tips. I highly recommend this tour.
