Returns to original departure point
Meet your guide and group of fellow travelers at the tour office in downtown Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, or select hotels (please refer to Important info for more details).

Get outfitted with extra warm clothing and climb into a comfortable tour vehicle for your trip out into the frozen tundra. Your guide knows the perfect spots to view Mother Nature's ultimate light show: the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. Finland's Lapland area is an ideal geographical location to view the natural phenomenon because of its clear, open skies, the absence of light pollution and position in the Arctic Circle.

Once you arrive, settle in for a traditional Lappish picnic, including hot beverages. Listen to your guide's commentary on the cause and appearance of the Northern Lights as you wait for the elusive natural luminescence. Revel in the silence of the snowy wilderness and the peaceful environment.

We could not see the lights because it was very cloudy. The place was very nice but without the lights, there was not much to do.

Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed this trip and were very lucky to see the northern lights in one of the clearest nights for a while according to the tour guide. One disappointment was the food, if you are expecting a traditional lappish picnic...its not but then again this tour is more for the northern lights as appose to the food. Worth the money overall.

The tour was really very good, both guides Laura and Timmo were absolutely professional and paid much attention to every participant. That was very interesting experience both for adults and children 11 and 6 yrs. Of course, it depends on children, if they are not afraid of dark forest, and they like to seat by fireplace and listen to the legends and stories. What I would recommend for children, just to have more fun - to give them headlamp and make them guess the steps in the snow :
