We definitely did the right thing purchasing in advance as the queues were very long in July. It is important to note that the meeting point is not at the attraction itself. It is at a tour office a few streets away. You need to show your voucher there in order to collect your entry ticket. Once we had collected the tickets, the tour guide was brilliant and we got through security very quickly. Would highly recommend this trip - the Sistine Chapel was simply amazing.
We bought the skip the line tickets without the tour. We still waited in line for over an hour to even get to the lobby. The entire museum was so packed, it was impossible to really see and enjoy the art. By the time we got to the Sistine Chapel, we were hot and frustrated. The chapel was beautiful, but so full. And guards kept yelling to “be quiet”, it was difficult to enjoy. If I go again, I would try to book an after hours tour.
Dear Guest, it's the high season for Vatican which made you wait in the line for security check. Visitors with a skip-the-line ticket or any other choice of ticket need to pass through security check which is unavoidable, most of the time it would be not more than 5 min.
We suggest our guest to upgrade to guided tour, whenever the museum is crowded, so that you will not miss the most important artworks and collections. We wish to have a second chance in the future with guided tour. Best regards
