Good but could be better
, Feb 2020
The description says nothing about Naples being included and the tour guide was more centered towards Spanish even though we had booked a English speaking tour. This bothered me as I was on a bus for 3 hours to walk around a city I hadn’t booked for and only leaving 2 hours for Pompei which I feel we only covered a little amount of it. We also weren’t given enough time at the end to go through the museum, take photos and go around the stalls. The driver for the pickup was also 10 minutes late. The bus ride was comfortable and staff there were excellent.

Dear Patrick, thanks for your review that is valued feedback for us. We suppose you made your reservation on Viator (if not, please send us an email at indicating what website you made your booking on): we're going to check our Viator activity write-up and make sure it is as clear as possible in terms of setting the correct expectations. We are pretty sure Naples in mentioned, but if not we'll immediately open a ticket for our Content Department colleagues to take a look and improve the tour description. That said, we're glad you enjoyed the ride and the guidance of our professional staff. Kind regards, the Gray Line I Love Rome Team
Skip Naples, go by train instead.

Wasted a good deal of time getting in and out of Naples for a short walk around. Found the guide to be unremarkable. Too much time on the bus for just 2 hours at Pompeii

Dear Jeffrey, we appreciate your feedback and thanks for taking the time to publish it. Other clients expressed qualms in the past about the Naples portion of the tour and the two-hour visit to the ruins of Pompeii in terms of the former being negligible and the latter a little too short. We understand this viewpoint and we take feedback seriously; however, we assure you that how the standard day is structured is the result of a process that aimed to manage the destination in such a way that our guests could be able to experience the Campania region in full - getting to know a little bit of Naples, having a relaxed lunch to taste real pizza and admiring the highlights of Pompeii. Believe us when we say that a multi-hour visit to the archaeological site would be too much to take. Which, on the other hand, can always be organized as a private or semi-private tour should one only be interested in that. As for your tour guide, we understand your expectations weren't met, so if you want to discuss this further and provide us your booking code, please send us an email to Kind regards, the Gray Line I Love Rome Team
Rome to Pompeii
, Feb 2020
Stella was the assistant on the bus to make sure the trip ran smoothly, she was friendly and patient and even though she was not the tour guide, she gave us information on places we passed on the way to Pompeii. I can't remember the name of the guide for Naples and Pompeii; but she was very knowledgeable and welcomed questions. We spent an hour in Naples and 2 hours in Pompeii. It was an good outing. The only thing we did not like was the location for the rest stop, it didn't offer a variety of choices. oh, be mindful that there is a pick up service, but not drop off service back to the hotel. I would recommend this tour.
Do it!

Very interesting tour with an excellent guide. Would recommend. Also included a walk in Napoli with some interesting sights.

Great tour! Excellent accommodations! Tour guide was a little hard to understand due to his thick accent, but that does not take away from how knowledgeable he was. Probably could have done without the Naples tour. Might have been less impressive due to the amount of construction going on!

Love it. Me and my wife just love it. I wish we have more time to walk in pompeii to be able to see a little more.
A taste of Naples and walk thru the ruins of Pompeii...AMAZING!

I can't begin to tell you how happy I am I booked this tour for our family trip. Our driver Johnny and tour guide Marco were the best! The tour, the food and the bus ride were fantastic. If you get a chance to be in Rome and have a day to spend, please take this tour. You will not be disappointed.
Highlight of our Rome trip

awesome!! A must tour for anyone going to Rome ... there is absolutely nothing like it! Our guide was so knowledgeable and just a fun person to have showing us Pompeii
The tour guide was excellent

My complaint was with the lunch that was provided during the day out. The waiters were rude the first course was slopped on our plate like we being fed like cattle and the staff at the restaurant made me feel like we were an inconvienience. The pizza was very dry very salty and I'm appetising. The dessert was a sponge which had obviously been defrosted because of the amount of water in the bottom of the 1 inch square of sponge. I must add that the guide on the coach and the tour guide around both naples and pompeii were excellent and if the lunch was even just adequate I would have Givendale score as a 4.5 but for 2 people we payed in the region of 240 pounds so tj expect a decent lunch is not too much to ask is it?

Dear Guest, thank you very much for putting this out, it's very useful for us to know what works well and what needs improvement during our Pompeii tour, one of our best selling activities outside Rome. We'll take note of your contribution and give our feedback to the business in question in order to ensure they guarantee high-quality standards every single day. Best regards, the Gray Line I Love Rome Team
Good tour but group size is too large for Pompeii
Joe F
, Jan 2020
Tour was great. Tour leader Marco kept us occupied during the bus ride from Rome to Naples and Connie did an excellent job guiding us through a short tour of Naples and Pompeii. My only issue was the group size in Pompeii itself. The group was over 35 people and we couldn't fit in some of the areas within Pompeii while Connie was giving the tour. Sometimes would be describing an area while some of the group was still stuck outside and couldn't tell what she was talking about. Splitting the bus up into 2 groups during the Pompeii portion would fix this. Of course the tour would be a bit more expensive but the experience would be much better. Thanks for a great day.

Dear Joe, thank you for sharing your opinion and providing useful feedback while still assigning us 5 stars! We're glad the size of the group didn't spoil your experience and feelings about your tour leader and local guide. To be honest, during the high season we're used to taking to Pompeii double the number of people in your group every day and we usually split the bus and the group into smaller groups. However, unless we reach a certain threshold of participants in the low season, knowing that only one local guide is going to be available on site, we tend to keep the group together. But we understand your point of view and we appreciate you bringing it up. Kind regards, the Gray Line I Love Rome Team
