Santa Teresa Driving/Walking Tour

, Feb 2020
Santa Teresa is a beautiful neighborhood with a lot of artistic charm. The Selaron steps was an excellent experience and the tour guide helped take photos of everyone in the group. This tour included more riding in the van than walking which took away from experiencing the neighborhood. I would've liked a bit more time immersed in the neighborhood. The day I was on the tour, the trolley stopped running in the afternoon so we were unable to complete the ride, but our tour guide compensated us with the trolley ticket price. I would've liked a little bit more history about Lapa and talking about the popular places. Cinelandia was ok, but really just looking at the exteriors of the theaters and municipal buildings. The highlight was the beautiful Colombo Bakery at the end of the tour, which I would highly recommend.

Nice easy tour but there was NO tram ride

We went on this during on our first day in Rio and it was a nice light tour that started in the afternoon. Something for you to know there was not too much walking despite the tour being called a 'walking tour', we were still moving a lot with the bus. One thing that everyone was really disappointing about is that we did not get on the tram even though it was included in the price. Our tour guide said he was getting the tickets for us and everyone was excited and at some point we got into the bus and started driving away. Everyone asked where are we going and we were told all tickets were sold out and we cannot get on the tram. I don't understand why the tickets were not bought earlier as I am sure this was not the first tour they did. So at the end we had to go back on another day to take the tram ourselves and discover Santa Teresa more. Maybe when you get on the bus just make sure they have tickets arranged so you don't have to be disappointed like we did.

Do it with a taxi driver instead

The trip could and should have been good, but it was far from it. They were nearly an hour late picking us up. One message said it was traffic problems, another that the minibus had broken down! The guide couldn’t have been more disinterested! Kept saying ‘if you look over there’ without saying where over there. Left or right might have helped! We never did get the tram ride, as he said it was full. Ever heard of prebooking! In the end he dumped us at Columbo Cafe, that’s so popular we couldn’t even sit or get a drink. We left and made our own way back. We all deserve our money back, but don’t suppose we will Get anything, as unlike them, we prebooked and prepaid!

Disappointed

The tour started late as there was some problem with the vehicle. We were supposed to get a tram ride but there were so many people ahead of us and all the trams were full anyway so the guide was not able to get the tickets. C2Rio should have some way of having that pre organised.

Gregory was a very nice guide and also his driver was nice, but as they were stuck in traffic they’ve been 1h late for the pick up. So I had to wait in a foreign hotel lobby and waited my ass off and got only a message of the host of the tour after I asked about an update. Then Gregory said that the tour normally ends at 6pm, so he asked if someone is in a hurry since the tour would now end one hour later (7pm). Everyone was fine with that. At 5:30 he suddenly brought the first tour members to their drop off point and afterwards me. So I’ve been dropped off at approx 5:40pm. Furthermore the Tour Saus also that they stop at Cinelândia but I think I haven’t seen it. Also it says that any entrance fee is included...well it’s only R20 for the tram ride ...

A Wonderful Experience

We recently took this tour during a stay in Rio. Our tour guide Prycilla was so wonderful and was the reason why this day was so memorable. She was able to pass her love of her city on to all participants and her knowledge of the places we went was excellent. I loved the fact that this tour took us to places that I would not have felt comfortable visiting on my own. Highlights were the Selaron Steps, the tram ride and the tour through Cinelandia. Prycilla was a most wonderful guide and a credit to her company. Thank you for a great experience.

Poor guide

Was told tour would be conducted by c2rio. Was not. The guide Danielle was extremely poor. No knowledge of the sights. Extremely poor and heavy accented English which no one understood. Seems like you guys do not care because the payment was made in advance. Visitor will never ever get me as a customer
