On arrival, meet your instructor to adivse of your ability level—beginner, intermediate, or experienced.

Get up-close to the Icelandic horses, learning about this gentle breed. Descendants of Viking horses brought here in the 10th century, these sturdy, good-nature steeds are known for their tölt, a four-beat gait that makes riding on rugged terrain smooth and comfortable.

Next, watch a short instructional video, don your provided riding gear, and hop into the saddle. Learn to ease your horse into the tölt, and set out behind your instructor. Soon afterward, having watched you riding, your instructor splits you into three groups—beginners, intermediates, and experienced.

Beginners ride slowly over easy terrain, with intermediate and experienced riders tackling more challenging routes at different paces. Just advise your instructor if you want to go slower or faster.

As you ride, soak in the beautiful scenery. Weave through lava fields and moorland, passing volcanic mountains and lakes.

After your trek, savor coffee, tea, or hot chocolate at the stables.

Very sketchy horse riding company

My friends and i booked a tour with them and towards the end of the tour one of my friend’s horses suddenly bolted off so quickly with her still on top and she ended up falling almost 6ft to the ground with her back hitting first. The staff did nothing to prevent the horse from running off and when my friend fell down the horse the staff just stood and watched her for a couple minutes before running to help her. They had no medical aid on them and the only staff that was ‘trained’ was a so called pharmacist. She didn’t even have water or any other first aid kits on hand when the incident occurred. My friend ended up getting a concussion and some tissue damage on her spine as a result of the fall. She spent 5 hours in the iceland ER and spent almost $15,000 on her medical expenses as a result. The staff even said this was their 2nd incident of the day!!

Although the front office of this facility, the lovely Icelandic horses, and the reception staff were very good, the overall riding experience was disappointing in comparison to my other riding experiences elsewhere.

Incredible experience. The guides were extremely friendly. The horses were so friendly and easy to ride. They acted like dogs rather than horses. Highly recommend.

An excellent riding tour, I was picked up from my hotel and driven to the stables. The guides were helpful and the group was divided into 2 according to the level of the riders.

If you're coming to Iceland and you do like horses/are interested in riding the Icelandic horse, then this would be the activity for you. The guides we had were very friendly and welcoming (Miriam and Patty). They were very patient and helpful if you happen to have a hard time getting on or off the horse. You're basically going at a slow speed for the first half and after the break, where they help you take photos on your horses, you do have the option to go fast with the horses. (Only do this if you're a confident horse rider and think you're up to the task, otherwise you should stay slow and follow the group back.) They provide an extra layer of protection for the cold and it's completely optional so if you don't want to, you don't have to. The sights were nice and the horse ride was pretty calm and relaxing. We had a great time and I would highly recommend this tour.

Fuzzy cute horses

The icelandic horses are very gentle, they bunch together on the walk, snd no worries about biting or kicking. After the ride, we can stand in the horse corral and feed and pet the horses. They are fuzzy and not huge and adorable. Our guides were friendly and took photos on the ride.

A bit dangerous but since no one got hurt, it's a happy memory
Pol_G
, Mar 2022
It was a great experience, but I do want to remark, that the horses need a bit more training as many of them couldn't behave, three, including mine ran off after two other riders out of our group twice and scared me to death as this was my very first horse riding. The two instructors were helpful and clear but this should've been avoided, especially if kids can participate too, as the instructors said as well, it's a surprise that we didn't all fall off our horses..

Everything from start to finish was great, hotel pick up in a comfy minibus, coffee/tea offered and the guides making sure we were warmly dressed before giving us horses based on our experience. I rode the beautiful Dagur, who couldn’t have been a sweeter horse. Cheeky yet charming! They split the ride so those who chose to could experience the famous tölt, and the views were to die for! If you’re still deciding whether this is worth it - please book! You won’t regret it.

We originally were not going to do this on our trip to Iceland but booked it due to one of our tours getting canceled and we are so glad we did! The staff were so friendly and nice. If you have any experience horseback riding I would recommend going with the "experienced group", you don't go faster than a trot (: horses and scenery were amazing. Got some warm hot chocolate afterwards. They also give you warm suits to wear and a face covering to warm you which were much needed.
