Overview

Even if you have only limited time in Iceland, the Golden Circle, famed for its waterfalls, geysers, and striking landscapes, is an integral part of your itinerary. Ensure you don’t miss three of Iceland’s top attractions on this express tour of the Golden Circle from Reykjavik. Over the course of a day, witness the eruptions of the Geysir Geyser, marvel at the Gullfoss Waterfall, and drink in the ethereal landscapes of Thingvellir National Park.
  • Full-day express tour of the Golden Circle from Reykjavik
  • Ideal for those with limited time in Iceland
  • Travel between each attraction in a coach equipped with Wi-Fi and heating
  • Watch the Geysir Geyser erupt dramatically
  • Marvel at the power of Gulfloss Waterfall
  • Explore the striking landscapes of Thingvellir National Park
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off are included
Your tour begins with hotel pickup in Reykjavik, where you board a coach equipped with Wi-Fi and personalized computer tablets. Using GPS sensitive technology, the tablet provides audio commentary according to your location, while your onboard guide offers additional information on Iceland.

First, stop at Thingvellir National Park—a UNESCO-listed site home to the tectonic plates of both Eurasia and Europe. Capture photographs of the magnificent landscapes, feast your eyes on Iceland’s biggest lake, and then proceed to the geyser hot springs to observe a spectacular natural performance.

The Geysir Geyser shoots out steaming water propelled by the earth’s molten core, and provides a spectacle that demands attention. Here, you have the option to purchase food and drinks from numerous shops. Spend a while watching the eruptions before heading to the Gullfoss Waterfall, to listen to the thunderous roar of the water and see the glacial lake.

Your day concludes with drop-off at your Reykjavik hotel.

Traveler Tips

  • "There is a fair amount of walking and steps to get to an advantage point for taking photographs but definitely worth it." See review
  • "Excellent travels, best to do a tour when it snows because the roads are treacherous and these drivers are very skilled." See review
  • "Slight delay on the way home when picking up some guests to join the bus but minor considering the orchestration required during the very busy summer season." See review

Our tour was called Marieanne and she was a great guide! The trip was organised and very fun! Got to see many aspects of the Golden Circle and also instructions were given very clear by our tour poerator on our transfers to the blue lagoon afterwards. Overall a great trip!

Awesome! Guides friendly and knowledgeable! Driver on the way back from lagoon took extra time to show us the northern lights and time to take pictures.

Seen similar but better attractions elsewhere - waterfall, geysers and tectonic of plates. Very average.

The views are great!

The only problems were with organization. They picked us up late and also were dropping some people on the bus in different locations that were not on our itinerary.

We picked this tour because we wanted to experience the Golden Circle without being gone for 10-12 hours like other tours. This gave us enough time to enjoy the sights without losing the entire day.

Small complaint about this tour

We took this tour on Aug.19. The guide for the Golden circle portion was excellent. We returned to the depot after the golden circle portion and the blue lagoon trip followed. This is where wecedperienced confusion. The guide did not tell us what was to happen next and whether anyone was leading us. We wed4ctold there was a bus over there. We went to the bus but the driver was not willing to say much and did not appear to understand English. At the end of the visit to the blue lagoon there wa confusion about which bus to take and no one seemed to know. I think the Highland Experience folk should pay more attention to the blue lagoon portion or give it up. The tour guide for the golden circle tour should have 5aken the time to tell us what was happening next.

Lots of waiting

The Golden Circle is about the only way to see some of the countryside if you only have a short time to visit Iceland. The bus drive did spend a lot of time picking up and dropping off people so the time at the various sites, like the Blue Lagoon, was limited. By the way it's a man-made facility so go to the Secret Lagoon for a real hot pot.

Express - yes that was our Golden Circle tour

Our guide and driver were nice and did a good job. However I wouldn't recommend this tour as yes you get taken to the places they mention but you did really get to see the Tectonic plates - they just pointed that one side was the Eurasian tectonic plate and the other was North American tectonic plate. We were not taken to where you can see them in the water - in the far distance you could see the ones snorkeling. Geysir Geothermal area was interesting. It just takes so long to get around the 3 attractions. I think the advertising of Iceland just doesn't live up to expectations. Maybe if we had not toured Norway before Iceland we may have felt different.

Iceland is like no place I've ever been. Gorgeous scenery! The tour didn't allow quite enough time to explore but there was a lot to cram in. Tour was well worth the cost as we didn't want to navigate around on our own.

Lousy scheduling by the operator.

We booked a 12pm tour which the operator cancelled and informed us with less than 24hours to go. They gave us the option of either a refund or joining the 9am tour.We were in Reykjavik for only 3 days of which we had reserved one for this tour,a last minute cancellation would have ruined the day for us. We were arriving in Reykjavik the same morning as the tour so we had no other option but to spend more than the price of the tour itself to take a taxi from the airport to make it on time for the 9am tour.
