Do trek to the glacier if you can
Nate

It was a great experience! The guide invited 2 locals to climb the crater with us. The summit is too high, but we did make to the 5000 metre glacier. The view of the summit and valleys were breathtaking.

Dear Nate, we are glad that you enjoyed our Cotopaxi tour, I agree with you the ascent to the glaciers is incredible. Greetings, Diana

Although we were not able to see the glacier cap from the base camp due to cloud cover, this was still super fun. Make sure you are a few days acclimated to Quito elevation and wear proper hiking gear (i.e. not adidas windbreaker and running shoes lol). It got super wet, cold, and windy the day I hiked.

Ecuador countryside and Cotapoxi Volcano

This tour was a great day -- a long one packed with meals at a hacienda and lots of exposure to the wonderful Ecuadorian countryside. The hike at the Cotapoxi volcano was tough due to the high altitude, but the views were incredible. We stopped at the lagoon and the native guides were wonderful. I definitely recommend this trip.

Great tour guide. Very informative, knowledgeable and entertaining. He was very sensitive to all on tour, helping my husband very patiently struggle to get up the volcano. Only complaint was breakfast/lunch spot. Too far off main road. Added another 1/2 hour to trip on rocky roads

Beautiful scenic drive and hike up to the glacier.

We enjoyed our day trip to Cotopaxi. Breakfast was served at a small lodge late morning so you may want to eat something before you head out on this excursion. Lunch was served later at the same lodge around 3:30 so bring a snack. The leaders were very accommodating. The bus was fine though the sound system was not very good. The hike up to the glacier's edge was fine and very beautiful.

An exciing day to Cotopaxi

It was a well arranged tour, both what regards the guides, the transport, the catering, wonderful. I did not go the last piece but my fellow travellers did. I understand from them it was very hard, so maybe it is good to warn travellers better on that last part. I think it took some by surprise how hard it was.

Nearly perfect trip marred by van troubles
hsjamsil

The trip was well-organized as exactly as described in the itinerary. Both guides (Erica and Paulina) were excellent, engaging and informative. Although the top of the mountain was shrouded in fog when we started the hike, we were able to see the peak and glaciers by the time we got to the refuge. There was a bit of a snag when we reached Quito - apparently some part of the van fell off on the way (probably during the somewhat rough ride on the unpaved road in Cotopaxi National Park) and we had to be transported to the original meeting points in another van chartered by the tour company operator. While we safely reached the meeting points, it was almost an hour late. There also seemed to be a bit of confusion and indecision when they discovered the snag, and it wasn’t immediately communicated to the passengers. We stopped twice on the sides of busy roads with no explanations, and on the final stop, we were first told that they were going to call taxis to take us to the meeting points, but turned out it was a van. Overall it was a satisfying trip.

Just got a sneak peek of Cotopaxi (the weather was not on our side) but had an excellent climb / tour nonetheless. The climb was tough but David (tour guide) was very attentive and sensitive to the safety of everyone in the group. Paulina (local guide) spoke with a lot of spirit and passion. Excellent tour!

More time

Tour was rushed. The guides were nice on the bus. But thy didn’t communicate well what would happen at the mountain. We barely had any time on Cotopaxi and we were the first ones up in our group. They spent more time at the lake beneath it, which was much less interesting
