Return Details

Returns to original departure point
This Québec City sightseeing river cruise departs from the Chouinard Pier. Climb aboard the AML Louis Jolliet, a 170-foot cruise ship named after the famous French-Canadian explorer. Choose from any of the three distinctive exterior terraces or settle into the air-conditioned dining area. Either way, the views from the Saint Lawrence River will be breathtaking.

Enjoy this entertaining and educational sightseeing tour of Québec City and the surrounding countryside, cruising from the Cap Diamant to Montmorency Falls. The Cap Diamant, or Cape Diamond, is the official name of the cape and promontory on which Québec City is located. It’s formed by the confluence of a bend in the Saint Lawrence River to the south and east and the much smaller Saint-Charles River to the north. Montmorency Falls is an 83-meter-high waterfall, an impressive 30 meters higher than iconic Niagara Falls.

Some of the sites to be seen include the historic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac hotel, Canada’s most-beloved hotel and the most-photographed hotel in the world and the historical island borough of Île d’Orléans.

There’s also something to be learned on this live-narrated cruise. Find out about the history of Québec City, the Saint Lawrence River and all the aforementioned points of interest along the way from the enthusiastic, costumed guide, dressed as Louis Jolliet himself.

A variety of beverages and snacks are available for purchase on board the boat.

A wonderful way to see Quebec City! There should be a narrator on the first floor because it was difficult to hear him from upstairs.

The speaker was very clear in both French and English and his description clearly depicted what we were looking at and was very informative.

Sound system quality lacking, tour guide was excellent. Not enough cover to get out of the direct sun.

Worth the trip

Tour was beautiful and informative; a good value for the price. The social distancing measures were good and I felt pretty comfortable with my mask on. The ticket booth beforehand was a bit confusing and we almost missed our boat even though we prepaid and arrived 30 minutes early; the staff in the ticket booth did not speak adequate English to help Anglophile-only customers and the prepaid staff then were assisting Anglophone ticket purchases from the other line, slowing everything down.

Montmorency by the Sightseeing Cruise Ship

We enjoyed this tour and I would recommend it because it wasn't that expensive. The tour guide was amazing and I would have rated this higher just because of his knowledge, experience and passion, but the views were good not great. I thought we would have gotten closer to the Montmorency Falls but we did not, however close enough to get good pictures. The upper deck had the best views but it is a lot windier, so dress accordingly. Just to say you couldn't see these views of Old Quebec City unless you were in the water, which is why I also recommend this. It is only an 1 1/2 tour , more like 2 1/2 hours to board and depart the small cruise ship but it will give your legs a brake from walking those hills in old Quebec City. Bon Voyage!!

Our guide was fantastic and entertaining. He was knowledgeable regarding the history and engaging. Would recommend this short river cruise to get a flavor and allow you to decide if a more extensive cruise is warranted.

A Different View of Quebec

After touring on foot, in a horse and buggy, and a private SUV tour, the sightseeing cruise gave us another view of Quebec. Refreshing to ride on the boat and enjoy a cold drink. The guide on the boat was dressed in historic gear and revealed various aspects of Quebec's history, geology, and other general information in a fun, bilingual, and informative manner.
