It is important that you be with the first groups to leave the ship as we aim to depart 45-minutes after your ship’s actual arrival (or when the gangway is in place).

This tour exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Henry, was very informative and spoke fluent English. Because of a recent rain, we rode the gondola both ways. The views from the gondola were magnificent. Henry, who is a Tiger Woods look alike, made several stops for photos. Henry guided us through the gardens at the top of the mountain, pointing out all the many flowers and plants. I saw a poinsettia tree. On our return, Henry made a special stop to grab fresh bananas for all of us. We booked this as a shore excursion, knowing we would return to the ship on time. It is a long walk from the cruise port. I would definitely recommend this tour. It is small group, which is ideal

At first nervous to book a non cruise ship excursion but really wanted to do Cable Car while in Dominican Republic. I happened across this excursion while surfing around and contacted the company that operates this tour. I was put in touch with Amber Cove Adventures through Viator and they put my fears at ease. She said they deal with cruise ship passengers and guarantee to get us back to the ship. The day of the excursion our stop was shorted by 1 hour but when we arrived at the pick up point they already were aware of the change.. They track the ships via GPS and follow all the time schedules. Only negative to this tour was that you had to walk from the ship to the area outside the gates which might be a hike if you have difficulty in waking. They are not allowed in gates since it was not a Carnival excursion. Once we got to area there was a tiny bit of confusion on what bus we needed to get on. They have multiple tours going different areas. But that was solved quickly and on the bus we went. Our group was guided by Henry and he was awesome! Very kind and quite a sense of humor. Rum punch was provided during the intervals between stops. Would we do this excursion again? Absolutely! Thanks Amber Cove Adventures for a great time !

This was an awesome tour! The history through the city and countryside, along with the trip up the mountain to see the views and back down on the cable car were informative and breathtaking. All of the tour guides and driver were entertaining and extremely courteous as well. I would highly recommend this tour!!

Highly recommended tour. With the exception of the “hike” from the cruise port to the tour vehicle (thanks Carnival), this tour gives an excellent view of the city and countryside, history, and adventure. The ride up the mountain, views at the top, and cable car ride down were the highlight.

We loved our tour with Winston. He is the perfect ambassador to share the history, culture, and beauty of the Dominican Republic. The country is breathtaking and Winston brings it to life. We were blessed to have a private tour with Winston and the driver Daniel. They have taken great care to design the tour to be thorough but time efficient. Winston explained each stop and gave us ample time to explore and take photos. The van was so clean and comfortable. They provided water, soda and homemade rum punch. There was even WiFi! I would recommend this tour to everyone, and would book it again in a heartbeat. We have fallen in love with the country and its people thanks to Amber Cove Adventures.

Nice trip through the town and up the mountain to the cable car. Views were great. Victor was entertaining. Rum punch! Good tour of the fort. Problem at the start. My ticket said call for confirmation and meeting instructions. Well, cell phones service was out in the DR. I kept asking people where this group was located. “Outside the front gate”. This was over a mile from the cruise port. We were late but fortunately they waited for us. The description of just outside the cruise port should be redefined the say give yourself 30 minutes to get to the tour departure spot. Again another long walk back to the ship.
