Returns to original departure point
Your Port Douglas sightseeing cruise to the Great Barrier Reef begins with hotel pickup. You'll board a luxury catamaran to the Low Isles in the quieter morning hours, before most visitors arrive. Enjoy professional service by the attentive crew on the smaller 33-passenger vessel.

On arrival, you'll have 4.5 hours to spend at your leisure; slip on the provided snorkel gear and explore the undersea coral gardens of a sheltered lagoon just offshore, stroll to the historic 19th-century lighthouse, or simply relax under the shade of tropical palm trees on the white-sand beach. If you'd prefer a snorkeling tour led by a marine biologist, explore the magical underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef with your guide.

There’s more eco-education aboard a glass-bottom boat tour, with expert commentary and stunning views of iridescent fish and fluorescent coral.

After a seafood buffet lunch on board the catamaran, soak up the sun on the deck or return to the water for a final snorkel before cruising back to Port Douglas in the afternoon.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Low Isles
Sail from Port Douglas aboard a luxury catamaran to visit Low Isles in the quieter morning hours, before the majority of visitors arrive. After cruising from the mainland, arrive at Low Isles, where you can spend four and a half hours at Low Isles, a coral cay island where you can relax under palm trees on the white sands and snorkel off-beach in the sheltered lagoon’s undersea coral gardens. Take a walk to Low Isles’ historic lighthouse, dating from 1878, or learn about the Great Barrier Reef’s magical underwater world of iridescent fish and fluorescent coral on a guided snorkel tour led by a marine biologist. There’s more fun eco-education aboard a glass-bottom boat tour, with stunning coral views and expert commentary. After a seafood buffet lunch on board the catamaran, soak up the sun on the deck or return to the water for a final snorkel before returning to Port Douglas by 4pm. Only a select group of operators are permitted to visit the coral cay Low Isles, the only Great Barrier Reef island a short sail from Port Douglas. This cruise combines luxury and eco credentials, for a premium reef experience.

Safe, secure and entertaining.

We booked a snorkeling cruise for 4 to go to the low isles and reef. The crew were terrific. They had everything ready for us all including coffee & light snacks to begin. Kate was extremely helpful and patient when explaining how to fit the face-mask as well as all the other points that we needed to learn and understand. It all seemed so safe and professionally handled. The local knowledge of the reef and eco system was invaluable (hats off to Jason). I would thoroughly recommend this cruise & team.

Stunning Day on the Reef

Boarded the Sailaway Catamaran around 8.30 with my wife and 4 other guests and 2 crew Blake & Lizzie. It was a personal cruise out to the Reef at Lowe Island where we were the only boat all day. After a sail of around an hour we arrived and were taken to shore in a small boat - we had the island to ourselves. We then snorkelled from the beach in the Coral for around 45 mins with Lizzie who was pointing out all sorts of fish and we even saw 2 turtles. A guided trip round the Island was next which took around 20 mins explaining everything that goes on with the 2 caretakers on the island. Back to the main boat for a delicious buffet lunch with fruit and water. After lunch we had the option to swim from the boat and despite the 5 sharks off the back of the boat it did not put 3 of us off exploring more coral for another 45 mins. Around 2.45 it was time to sail back to Port Douglas where we arrived around 4pm. I have done many tours with Viator all over the world but this was by far the best and a truly wonderful experience that my wife and I will never forget - this is a must tour if in the area.

Viator comes up trumps again!

Having used Viator in May 2019 for a trip in Alaska we decided to use them again for a special tick box excursion to the lower isles Great Barrier Reef. Knowing the high standard we received in May last year we were thankfully not disappointed this time. Professionalism to the highest standard. Thankyou guys for such a well organised effortless trip.

Low Island - Great Barrier Reef

The crew were extremely helpful rushing around sorting and organising the day trip. Lovely layout of food was offered through out the day from the moment we stepped on the boat until we returned to port at Port Douglas. Saw a variety of marine life throughout the day, with the crew leading the snorkelling around the reef pointing out and giving a brief on each sighting. Also on offer was glass boat bottom tour around the reef. In all an excellent day out.

Professional staff and beautiful day on the water

As someone who has snorkelled the outer reef only in the past this was a different experience. The coral didn't have the colour I was used to nor were there any fish to speak of. There was however lots of variety in the coral reef. Staff were professional and food plentiful. The glass bottom boat is also a good addition as Jaz gave us a lot of additional info. The ride out and back to reef was really pleasant too amongst the gorgeous scenery.
