Receive a morning pickup from your hotel in the La Fortuna area. You’ll have space aboard your transport for a backpack, toiletry items, and a change of clothing for the end of your rafting adventure. You’ll wind your way from La Fortuna through the Costa Rican countryside, passing through lush plantations ripe with pineapple, yucca, and papaya crops along the flanks of Arenal Volcano.
You’ll eventually reach your chosen rafting destination for the day, a site that will be selected by your guide on either the Rio Sarapiqui or Rio Toro depending on current conditions. Before setting off you’ll be given all necessary rafting gear and learn the proper rafting commands and safety procedures from your guides.
Then set off on a thrilling, 9-mile (13-kilometer) rafting trip, spending between 2.5 and 3 hours total on the water. Prepare to get wet as you challenge a range of Class III and IV rapids, stopping to catch your breath in the calm sections and look for toucans, monkeys and other wildlife in the surrounding forests. At the trip halfway point, you’ll take a break to enjoy an included snack of fresh fruit on the river bank before braving more rapids for the second half of the trip.
When your whitewater adventure comes to an end, enjoy an icy-cold beverage along with a dry towel and included Costa Rican-style lunch. After your meal, you’ll be delivered back to your hotel between 3:30 and 4pm. Guests who are interested can also select a one-way transfer to San Jose after the rafting trip (please arrange at the time of booking).
