Perfect sampler tour of Sedona and Grand Canyon!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Our group really enjoyed this 3 day Sedona and Grand Canyon Rail experience! Our favorite driver, Wayne P. picked us up on time at our hotel in Phoenix and from the get go was so warm and welcoming. He truly was knowledgeable, friendly and completely set such a positive tone to our trip! Sedona was such a charming city; a cross between Palms Springs and Zion NP. It was just enough time in Sedona to get a feel of the place and figure out if you'd like to come back and visit. The train ride from Williams to Grand Canyon was so peaceful and unexpectedly enjoyable ride even if you don't actually see the GC from the train. I learned about how diverse AZ is as a state and this whole tour definitely did it's job to convince me to come explore more of what Arizona has to offer! As a group we were awe-inspired by the Grand Canyon and were glad we spent the night there instead of just hopping back on the train after a couple hours. The sunset and sunrise at the Grand Canyon will be memories that will last with us forever. Overall, we really were impressed with all the drivers that we had the pleasure to hang out with: Wayne P, Cindy, Steve and Mike K. The vans were all VERY comfortable. Slim at the Arizona Tour and Travel was also super helpful in getting to our hotel and answering all of our questions. The only suggestion I have is that I wish I had a better idea of what the schedule was instead of being told at every step like which hotel we will be staying at, etc. However, someone always called a day ahead to let me know the time of pick up for the next morning. Nothing serious, it's just getting used to going with a tour company rather than planning on your own. We felt like we had a private tour for the most part due to the non-busy/HOT season?

To much talking.

Guide talked non-stop, about anything and everything during our drive to and from the Grand Canyon, which of course was beautiful. It would have been nice to have some quite time once in a while just to enjoy the scenery. It was all very fast. Next time I'll drive myself.

Wonderful vacation!

We just got back from our 3 day Sedona and Grand Canyon Rail Experience and have nothing but great things to say. The guides were knowledgeable, the hotels were very clean and comfortable, wonderful restaurants and were given excellent instruction on times, tickets, etc. The only thing I would improve upon is upgrading packages where you can stay in Sedona 2 nights and the Grand Canyon for 2 nights. Our vacation was one to remember.

Wasn’t quite what I thought I had signed up for
, Aug 2018
While Sedona and the Grand Canyon were breathtakingly beautiful and more than we could have expected, the tour was not quite what I thought I had signed up for. The title “3-Day Sedona and Grand Canyon Rail Tour” led me to believe the whole tour was on the train - Phoenix to Sedona, Sedona to Williams, then an old train ride from Williams to the Grand Canyon with cowboys riding up to the train, then train back to Phoenix. What we got was a van ride to Sedona (extremely late pick up), then dropped off for another van tour of Sedona in an older van with little a/c. We were then dropped off at the van tour place and had to walk a mile or so to our hotel. On day two, we were picked up by another van driver (in a newer van with good a/c) and driven to Williams. This driver, Sheldon, was lively and very pleasant and extremely helpful in transitioning us to our train. The train was a normal train, except for one Pullman car which was open air and more authentic. (I be I’ve this was a first class train we could only walk thru to get to the cafe car). Still, It was a lovely guided tour to the canyon, but no cowboys, just one sheriff popped in and a banjo player. Not quite the experience I thought we were going to have. The time in the Grand Canyon was awesome! Hotel was clean, staff courteous, food good. The experience was amazing touring the canyon by bus, and on foot! Definitely worth staying overnight! The return van ride was ok, repetitive at times. The driver seemed to drive quite fast, often passing other drivers. We arrived safely back in Phoenix about 30 minutes ahead of schedule. If I were to do this again I think I would rent a car and sign up for the individual tours as desired. I will say it seemed well planned for the most part. Make sure you bring extra cash for tipping all of the different drivers and guides you get along the way!

This tour offered more than we expected! I would highly recommend this to anyone! The service was wonderful. Everything was explained in detail as to what would happen next where we would be picked up, what time, how long the drive would take to the train station, etc. That was important for me as my memory is failing. Everyone was kind, knowledgeable and accommodating. Please give this tour your first consideration!

The scheduling of a three day tour...
Charles B
, Mar 2018
The scheduling of a three day tour was very difficult for Viator. They had to work through different agencies some of whom were amateurs. So the details of the trip were not good but the tours in each place were excellent. On the positive side:the tour guides were all outstanding, the train ride was fun, and the Grand Canyon hotel outstanding. On the negative side: the Arabella Hotel Sedona had no hot water in the morning for showers and told us to run the water for 10-15 and it may get hot. Our friends said their water was tepid but had no pressure coming out of the faucets. That is not good!!!! Next, we were left for two hours by ourselves waiting for a tour and when we went to find the offices we were supposed to go to, we found that our itinerary had no address for the office, the office name was wrong, and the phone number to call put us on hold and then later called our home landline but not our cell phone. We ultimately had to hire a taxi to find our tour bus. If it weren't for the excellence of the tour guides and the Grand Canyon hotel, we would give this a lower review.
