1 Av. Emile Zola , 1 Av. Emile Zola, 75015 Paris, France

This tour meets in Paris, in a small park/clearing on Avenue Emile Zola opposite a café named "Café Regalia". The closest métro station is Javel-André Citroën (line 10). Use exit 1 (sortie 1, right side). Your guide will be wearing a Fat Tire Tours t-shirt and holding a sign.

Versailles , 78000 Versailles, France

This tour concludes in Versailles and guests are welcome to stay in Versailles until closing. They may also return to central Paris with their guide.

Meet your guide at a central location in Paris and take the RER train together for the ride to Versailles. After picking up your bike a short distance from the Palace of Versailles, continue to a nearby village market to purchase baguettes, cheese, ham, wine and whatever else you’d like to feast on (own expense) for your picnic later on in the day.

The gardens and forests of Versailles span 1,976 acres (800 hectares), and are crisscrossed by a network of picturesque trails and tree-lined paths. Follow your guide and leave behind the pedestrians as you explore parts of the grounds that few venture out to, including Marie Antoinette's country-style hamlet, the Petit Trianon, and the Grand Trianon.

Arrive at a lovely secluded section of the Grand Canal that only those on bicycles can reach easily, and settle in for your picnic lunch. Get a kick out of the fact that you are sitting on the same spot where Louis XIV, XV, and XVI enjoyed their meals when they wished to admire their spectacular palace from the outside.

Then, cycle back toward the palace and spend time inside. With your provided audio-guide, learn about the lives of the French monarchy before their removal from power by the 1789 Revolution. See the King's State Apartments and Chapel, and walk through the unforgettable Hall of Mirrors, where the treaty ending WWI was signed.

Your Versailles bike tour ends with a return to Paris via RER train.

Beautiful bike ride in Versailles

Love the history with humor shared by Rory and periods of time on our own to see inside palace areas. Bike ride on roads in palace grounds excellent. Challenging in some areas in traffic but Rory guided with power.

The best part of our trip was our tour guide, OJ. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and made the tour a lot of fun. The sites are amazing but having a tour guide like OJ made the trip even better.

Rain was expected, so others on the tour canceled. We ended up having a ‘private’ tour! Our guide, Louie, was absolutely amazing!!! So knowledgeable and enjoyable. He introduced us to the market, and guided us on where to get the best bread, cheese, wine, and macaroons for our picnic. He Even introduced us to his favorite coffee truck. The ride was so much fun. My daughter and I had an amazing day . And the weather ended up being absolutely lovely 🌞

Great tour! Biking was great for a couple out-of-practice bikers, lots of stops and only a couple very short uphill sections. Loved getting to see all the grounds, and the length of the tour was perfect…never felt rushed. Louis was a great guide, and we had a very fun group. Would highly recommend to others that want to tour the grounds and the château Versailles!

Riding on the tree-lined alleys in such a beautiful, historic place will be a treasured memory. We enjoyed shopping in the market for a picnic to have later on the bank of the grand canal. The meeting point should have been at the station for Versailles instead of meeting then taking to different metros to get to the station.

Weather did not destroy the tour

Our day was not as hoped. It drizzled or downpoured all day!! Richard made the most of it and all of our fellow bikers were good sports. We were drowned rats by the time we returned our bikes and went back for the inside tour. However, we all enjoyed the tour and Richard’s stories.

Great tour! Take a blanket or something to sit on - there are no benches in the park :). Palace is huge, so is park - get ready for a long day! Breathtaking views and amazing food from nearby farmer's market! Kids in the group loved the bike part and didn't like the palace though.

Dave was a great guide! He told us where to go to find amazing food, and I appreciated that he gave us a good amount of history and lore, but didn't overwhelm us. The other people on the tour were friendly and pleasant. This is a great way to see the grounds of Versailles and really take it in.
