This activity will end right where it started.
Meet your guide for either your morning or afternoon Versailles tour in central Paris. Climb into the comfortable air-conditioned coach for the drive to Versailles.

The Palace of Versailles was originally built as a relatively modest hunting retreat for Louis XIII in 1623, but his successor—Louis XIV—expanded it and turned it into the symbol of luxury and extravagance that we know today. The palace we see today was completed in 1710, and remains one of the most famous palaces in Europe.

When you arrive, walk past the queues with your guide thanks to your skip-the-line access. Follow along as your guide walks you through the Royal Apartments where the King and Queen of France, Louis XIV, and Marie Antoinette once spent the majority of their time.

Visit the apartments of the Dauphin and Dauphine—the heirs apparent to the throne. See the various drawing rooms, private studies, and bed chambers where the royal family once lived, and imagine what life might have been like for them in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Continue to one of the most photographed parts of Versailles, the Hall of Mirrors, built in 1678. Look around as your guide explains its most important features. The Hall of Mirrors leads from the Royal Apartments to the Salon de la Guerre and the Salon de la Paix.

At the conclusion of your palace tour, enjoy some free time to explore the gardens at your leisure. Walk through the perfect gardens, studded with statues and sculptures, and admire the incredible fountains. On Saturday nights in the summer, those fountain displays are set to music that dates from the time of Louis XIV’s court for a memorable visual and auditory experience.

After your free time in the Versailles garden, rejoin your guide at the appointed location to climb back into the coach for the return drive to Paris.

Please note: Visits on the first Sunday of every month will be unguided, and you will be provided with an audio guide.

Pricey and rushed.

We loved Versailles and the gardens, however the tour was poorly organised and shorter than advertised. We were given 1 hour in the gardens and this was not sufficient. We started later than advertised and had to be picked up earlier than expected. The guide was knowledgable but when we arrived at Versailles we had to wait for her to get the tickets and then for the ‘process’ of her handing out 2 sets of tickets individually to each person. We waited approx 40 mins for this. The tour inside was good but the lack of volume control for the headphones was an issue for many of the participants. 1 hour is not sufficient for the gardens and we rushed to see some of the fountains. All a bit stressful. Very expensive for the experience of being rushed. Advertised as 6 hour tour. Less than 4 hours from time of leaving to return. Less than 3 hours at Versailles. Can’t fault Versailles and would highly recommend but would choose a different tour.

The place was amazing. The tour guide spoke English which was great. Just wish they were more considerate about people that are not able to walk. Also wish they gave about an hour more time. We rushed through the gardens.

Love the background history that Julien our guide gave us. Tour was fast paced enough that teens wouldn't be bored. Loved seeing the fountains working that day.

Guide was knowledgeable but since the Palace was so crowded he needed to move us along a little faster. Felt rushed toward the end of the tour.

Do it yourself without a guide

We left on time which was good, we got there to only be delayed by the tour guide who hadn’t got a clue what’s going on to get in. Many in the group became frustrated. This was cutting out time more within the palace. Once in we lost her several times as she had a black umbrella she would raise to here shoulders sometimes to show us where she was. We couldn’t make out what she was saying on the devices given. The tour was short. It was great to see but don’t take this tour do it yourself without a guide. The best part was leaving her to go into the gardens.

Great Palace...Poor Guide

Have waited years to see this palace. The palace and grounds are worth the wait. The guide was very disappointing. It was difficult to keep finding her and to hear her. We never knew for sure where she was and even if she was still in the room with us. When we suggested she should hold up an indicator so we could follow her in the large crowds, she simply said," that's not my problem"

It was amazing to see the Palace of Versailles but we went at a very peak point of time and summer, which made the tour EXTREMELY crowded. Our guide was informative but repeated things several times. Also disappointed that we paid to see the fountains show in the gardens but had to board the bus to return to Paris at the time the fountain show was starting.

Wonderful experience! The bus and meeting place were pleasant and well organized. Our tour guide Sandrine was very knowledgeable and super nice! Her passion for Versailles was contagious and kept my husband and 21 year old engaged throughout the entire tour. The amount of time spent inside was perfect and left ample time to explore the incredible gardens on our own. Highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful experience, the tour operator Isabelle was amazing and very professional but I don't enjoy to much the garden because we had only 20 minutes and I couldn't see everything but obviously it's a tour not to be missed.

The tour guide was awful and disorganized. Not a fun experience with her. She was difficult to understand when she spoke English and she had a shot fuse when questioned. She wan not friendly like the Spanish speaking guide and appeared frazzled and irritated. I wish I would have just gone alone with my family. Not worth the money spent. There were WAY to many people in the group as well.

The tour guide took us to see the highlights and explained the history of everything we saw. We had time to visit the gardens afterwards. Travel to and from was on a very comfortable and air conditioned tour bus. Would recommend.

Our tour guide Matis was so knowledgeable! I learned more from him on this tour than the first time I was here. Sad we didn't venture into the gardens, but today was 106d! The palace was comfortable though.

Versailles palace is a magnificent and a must-visit place, it is so huge , the gardens are amazing, the guide was knowledgeable and helpful, however there is communication issues with the organizing company we arrived early in the palace because we didn’t read that there is a meeting point. I sent many messages to the tour operator around two hours before the pick up time to inform them that we are at the palace and to know if there is a point where we can meet them upon their arrival, no response, then I called their number , they give many conflicting information, each call a new agent will reply , one of them was rude , we spent very long time to reach our guide Overall, I recommend to visit the place but am not sure about the company

It was a celebration in Paris. All the streets were closed. We couldn’t get to the bus on time. We had to walk. I tried to send the messages to tour operator numerous times. No one responded back. We were late from the bas and no one cared.

TOUR GUIDE DID NOT SHOW UP & THERE WAS NO BACK UP GUIDE

LUCY, OUR SCHEDULED TOUR GUIDE DID NOT SHOW UP!! & THERE WAS NOT A BACK UP GUIDE TO DO THE TOUR. We all had to buy our own tickets and do a self tour. HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT, WE WERE VERY UPSET. A self tour was not how we wanted to experience the Lourve. I will never book with this company again. I will not recommend it to anyone.

Trip was cut almost in half by two hours. We were rushed!!! The your said it left to the fists nation at2 and left Versalles at 7; well that never happened. We left Versalles at 5:30! Yes 5:30. Do the math of how much this tour oversold the self for.

No grand tour of Versailles Palace!
Alex_A
, Jul 2022
Tour guide delayed our group entry as she had to wait for the other guides to arrive since the coach transported 3 different groups. Then we were informed that departure time would be shortened to 11:45 a.m. instead of the posted 1:15 p.m. departure. Toured through the palace and gardens were rushed. Because of the early departure we missed the fountain show which defeated the purpose of visiting on a Saturday. Several of the group complained because we paid more and guide said to take complaint to the office. Recommend taking another tour or take the train to Versailles.
