A Worthy Ride

The ride through the parks is worth it since it is immense and doing them by bicycle allows you to appreciate them very well. The guide, although fun, had a strong French accent that sometimes I had a hard time to follow. I would have liked the tour to include the guide to accompany us inside the palaces.

Overall, a great way to see Versailles with some history, off the beaten path and skipping the line. The plan and organization was top notch. Our guide Gabriel, a student of art history was fantastic. I have been to Versailles before but never saw the whole property and gardens in this way as it is way too much to walk. The bikes were well worth it. Only complaint was that the biking was soooo slow that it was difficult to balance, and that is pretty slow. Had we gone faster, we could have had more time in the Grand and petite Trianon, the market. Everyone was capable. I am not sure why we had to move at such a snail pace. The market for shopping for our picnic was very nice. Bikes were fine. They let you use the ponchos for picnic blankets, provided cups and cork screws. It was a long day and by the time we got into Versailles at 4 pm, you were pretty tired. But we did not have to wait long to get in. It was very crowded. You are on your own in the palace so you can go at your own pace. The outside gardens closed at 5:30 so you do need to move to spend any time out side.

Incredible experience in the land around Versailles

Went to farmer's market in Versailles; easy biking; excellent, friendly, knowledgeable guide; beautiful lakeside picnic; saw many things not on palace-only ticket. Marie Antoinette's farm amazing and revealing about this enigmatic personality. Very helpful staff at meeting spot. Would recommend without hesitation to anyone. Only issue is so much to do during bike trip, little overwhelmed by the place itself at the end of the day.

Our tour guide Mimi was terrific! She was personable and very knowledgeable. This was the best tour of our nearly two week long trip according to my 16 year-old daughter. We were able to shop for our lunch in the markets of Versailles.

Great way to see the palace grounds. Tour guide was excellent, lunch on the grounds was fun. Pick up sandwiches and beverages in small village while walking to bikes.

Our whole family agreed that this was one of the best experiences of our trip. Our guide was excellent, the bikes were safe and the day was simply beautiful. Truly enjoyed the entire experience and loved the time to go and explore the farmers market to prepare for our picnic in the garden.

Great escape from the city to beautiful surroundings
Glyn_N

Our guide, Fred was great - fun, informative and friendly. The tour itself was excellent - riding bikes in the countryside was so refreshing after being in the city. The only downside was that there seemed to be too little time to properly enjoy the stops on the tour. In both locations, about 15 minutes extra would have been good. It felt a little rushed. I'm guessing it had to be the pace it was, to make our entry time to the palace - but since the palace doesn't seem to be strict about it, going in a little later wouldn't hurt. So, very much worth doing, but if the tour company is reading this, an extra 15 minutes at the stops would be appreciated.

Such a great day that started off at the train station, then the Versailles market to pick up items for lunch, then we got the bikes and we were ready to ride. We had Fred as our tour guide and he was amazing and fun and easy to interact with (we overheard some of the other tour guides along the way, so we would know lol). The entire experience was lovely. I would 100% recommend this tour and make sure you ask for Fred!

A Lovely Trip Back in Time to the French Aristocracy
Mario_S
, Jul 2022
Do you want to leave Paris for an interesting bike ride back in time to the French aristocracy? Then this is for you! This was a quick train ride to Versailles, a leisurely walk through the market. All the while, your tour guide is telling you the story of this world famous town of Versailles. You buy yourself some lunch for your picnic later and then the bike tour begins. The great thing about the bike ride is that even on a sunny day you won’t be in the sun the whole time. The grounds are really really lovely. If you are not interested in being taken back in time to the countryside with a really cool History lesson then don’t do it. As the bike ride progresses you start to get immersed in the court of the various Louis…XIII - XIV. The stops along the way are really magical. If you are into period furniture you will be in bliss because every stop in the Trianon and Marie Antoinette’s estate is ride with classic French furniture and decor. Then there’s the little Hamlet on the grounds of Marie Antoinette’s personal estate that inspired Snow White. How they were able to preserve this circa 1800s architecture is just magical.

Bike trip Versailles

The whole trip was magnificent! Each stop was better than the last one. So much to see! Our guide Arnaud was fabulous! We can’t wait to go back. The bikes were easy to use. The course was flat. Thoroughly enjoyed going to The market to get lunch for our picnic. I wish the tour was about eight hours longer so we could truly spend time at each location. We covered a lot of ground but there was so much more to see.

This was a great tour for my family (2 adults, 4 kids ages 16, 14, 8 and 7). For the littles we got to choose whether we wanted them to ride their own bikes or do tandem bikes with us. We chose tandem just because we didn't want one of them complaining that they were too exhausted 1/2 way through the day. Riding tandem took a bit to get used to but once we got the hang of it, it was perfect. Fabio was an exceptional guide. He was engaging with all of us, including the kiddos. He shared interesting history and also gave us insider info we otherwise would never have known. By the end it felt as though we were all buddies. He was always making sure we had everything we needed and that everyone was having a good time. He also, impressively, remembered everyone's name. This tour takes you around the grounds of Versailles, visiting several different structures. It was beautiful. The tour of the Palace is at the end, and we basically ran through that because we were exhausted by then. So, if touring the Palace of Versailles is the only thing you want to do, just get the tour for the Palace, be prepared for huge lines though. We were not too into that, though so we didn't mind going through just to get some quick photos and leave. My absolute FAVORITE part, however, was the French Market. It was incredible. Me and my entire family were wide-eyed walking through it and we wanted to eat EVERYTHING. Fabio made sure to give everyone a quick walk through giving us suggestions and introducing us to local merchants. It was the most wonderful market I had ever been to. Do not miss this. This tour is incredible and I would definitely recommend it. 10 stars!

We expected a bike drive to the castle, but the picnic and driving around the forest was amazing. Lara was fluent in French, English and Spanish. Great information and leading the group through a crowded Versailles. Recommend 1000%.
