We traveled to Normandy from Paris with BlueFox Tours. Our guide, Tahj, picked us up in a comfortable minivan and took our family of four, including 10 y/o and 13 y/o sons, on a wonderful tour of multiple beaches, American Cemetery for taps, Overlord Museum. He gave such rich history to go along with what we were seeing. We enjoyed crepes for lunch and learned about cider making before returning to Paris.
Olivia was our tour guide. She was excellent. Very knowledgeable and genuinely interested in the topic. The process could not have been easier. The trip to Normandy was very comfortable. Each site we visited was memorable and impressive to see. Olivia offered detailed information at every place we visited that really added to the experience and the places we saw. A truly moving experience. A long day, but worth it.
I had a great tour of Normandy with stops at Omaha Beach, the American cemetery, the Overlord Museum and Point Du Hac. Our guide Pedro was prompt, patient, and very pleasant. The day is quite rewarding but obviously very heavy (the museum is very well done). The history nerd in me would have wanted to see Pedro talking our ears off more with little known facts but maybe that’s just me.
One other thing - if it had been raining at all in the area then you should be careful with your footwear and consider hiking boots or something that has traction in some light mud (it can be slippery as I found out).
Julien was a fantastic guide. Our visit was in early March, so the weather was not ideal, but the tour included just the right balance of stops. One plus of visiting in March was the crowds were minimal. Travel to/from Normandy to Paris makes for a long day, but the schedule allows for breaks. Julien was so knowledgeable about history and the landscape and the human side of WWII, and made it interesting and accessible for my teenage son and me. The van was comfortable and nice, driving was great, the lunch stop was very nice French cafe. Everything we had hoped for, fit into one day!
Oliver brought the history of D-Day to life for me. His detailed knowledge is summarized into meaningful historic events which allowed me to understand the reason behind decisions related to the invasion and bad decisions that cost many lives.
I will always use Viator when visiting historic sites because they provide depth and breadth that is priceless.
Thank you Oliver
Tour was well worth the cost. I have read a lot about WWII, but seeing the actual places really completes the story for me. The visit to the American cemetery where 9800 are buried was deeply moving. Our guide was Fantastic, easily the best tour guide I have had on any tour with any company. He was very knowledgeable about the D-Day events, and I even learned some tidbits from him that I did not know. Lunch was at a very nice restaurant and wasn't very expensive. The Cider tasting was ok, was not like the hard cider in many bars....the apple juice there was very tasty, and we ended up buying a small bottle of an apple brandy that they produce.
We loved the tour, the small group, the guide's knowledge and hospitality....was the favorite part of our trip to Paris for my wife.
