With the Pantheon, architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot met Louis XV’s wish to glorify the monarchy in the form of a church dedicated to Saint Geneviève, the patron saint of Paris. The edifice was deconsecrated during the Revolution in 1791 and renamed the Pantheon. During the turbulent years of the 19th century, as regimes changed, it alternated in its role as a religious and patriotic monument. Since 1885, the year of Victor Hugo’s death and burial in the Pantheon, it has been the last resting place for the great writers, scientists, generals, churchmen and politicians who have made the history of France. Every evening, the flame is lit on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the Great War. An exhibition portrays the history and explains its symbolic importance, nationally as well as internationally. The terrace provides superb views both by day and night across the city and its great sweeping avenues.-Opening hours : April to September: from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; October to March: from 10 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.-Closed: 1st January, 1st May, 8th May (morning), 14th July (morning), 11th November (morning), 25th December

Super happy with this Pass! My daughter and I traveled for 3 weeks in Europe. Three nights in each of our chosen countries. We took the Eurostar train from London to Paris. I was a little reluctant to purchase initially as I didn't want to have to go pick up the passes at a location every other tour or excursion we booked I could print and bring with me however, the location was super easy to get to with local transportation and pick up was fast and easy. Finally, it put us in city center so we could start our sight seeing right away! It was well worth the money even though we had such a short time there. We LOVED our hop on hop off bus tour we added to it too, but glad we only booked for one day as the public transport is SO convenient and easy to figure out.

We use metro systems in all major cities, so this was great. However, be aware that in Paris, the first Sunday of each month , museum entry is free, so if you are only there for 3-4 days over the weekend, your may not get your money's worth. . We were just there in early Feb. and unfortunately the ONLY Museum we used the pass for was the Louvre. D'Orsay is closed on Mondays, Louvre closed on Tuesdays. We had used the London Pass in the past but feel this one did not work out so well for us. The Seine cruise was a very nice inclusion.

The bus tour is worthless. We are given earbuds to listen to commentary but cannot hear anything. It is difficult to figure out where the stops are to board the bus. Metro rides are 80 cents each, so the 140 price seems high, although the museum pass is good - except today the Louvre and Pompadeau Center are closed and the museum pass is only for 2 consecutive days.

The Paris Pass was verynice. There is so much to see and do. In two days we were able to hop off and visit sites then get back on and see other sites. The Seine River tour was a major highlight. Wish I had more time. Highly Recommend.

Passlib e sciopero mezzi

, May 2019
