This was our last tour of a long trip, and it was very informative and at a perfect pace for what we wanted to accomplish. Tour guide was great, very knowledgeable and passionate. We were very pleased with our tour and tour experience.
Elizabeth was fabulous! The only way to see the Louvre is through her voice and passion. She transformed history into engaging reality. She was brilliant in her knowledge of art and history. We thoroughly enjoyed our first experience! Thank you.
We had a fabulous time with our guide, Leesa, and the tour was the perfect pace and length for our family, especially with two children (3 and 9). We were by ourselves in the group and our guide started us off asking what we most wanted to see so she could focus on that. Given that seeing everything in the museum would take weeks, we appreciated that she narrowed down to our most wanted item at the start. We were nervous to have two children with us as you never know if they will view an activity as boring but this was entertaining for them and our guide was very in tune to kids. Our nine year old was interested in the history more than the three year old of course but our guide did a fabulous job of balancing telling the history and story for the adults to learn and also keeping things interesting for kids. She took the time to stop along the way in spots where we could sit and she would tell us the history so everyone could take a break but also keep the tour moving. We would do a tour many times over since there is so much to see at the Louvre but given that we only had two hours, we felt the value of this tour is fantastic.
Our tour guide found us at the meeting point and was very friendly. She took us to parts of the Louvre we had not seen and would not have found. My daughter and I were equipped with earpieces so we could hear our guide whilst walking - we could walk and talk. We visited the ruins, greek statues, paintings and the drawing rooms of the French Kings and Queens that had lived in the palace. It was all so informative and interesting. And yes, we saw the Mona Lisa with a fresh mind and new ideas.
We ended up having a private tour! The Louvre is so large and overwhelming, so it was great to have a guide who could organize the exhibits for us to essentially travel through time. The tour focused not only on the artwork, but on the building's history and the history of Paris as well. After our "2-hr introduction," we were left to explore the Louvre on our own, which was nice to be able to visit areas that we did not see during the tour.
My only disappointment is that two of the exhibits that I really wanted to see were closed for refurbishment.
