This partial transit cruise through the Miraflores Locks takes you into one of three lock systems used along the Panama Canal—an experience not to be missed! The canal’s construction is considered one of the largest and most challenging engineering projects ever undertaken before it was opened in 1914, enabling efficient passage between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

After hotel pickup in the morning, travel toward La Playita pier on a drive through Panama City. Journey along the Amador Causeway (Calzada de Amador), a man-made network of four small islands near the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. Enjoy breathtaking views of the canal and Panama City skyline before boarding your vessel.

Cruise along the Panama Canal until reaching the Miraflores Locks. Depending on the number of boats present on your date of travel, you most likely have to wait a short while before it’s your ship’s turn inside the locks, but the scene before you is worth it. Enjoy great photo ops as you watch vessels traveling through Miraflores.

Be amazed as your ship is raised up to 54 feet in a two-step process while water from the lake fills the lock’s chambers. Once the process is finished, continue cruising to the Pedro Miguel Locks before arriving at the Gamboa pier.

Here, disembark to re-board the coach for the return transfer to your Panama City hotel.

Please note: A minimum of two people per booking is required.

I feel robbed $375

SCAM! Please DONOT book trips with this company. I purchased a boat trip through the Panama Canal. There was NO trip, it was a scam! They took the money, $375 out of my credit card (10 or 12 hours prior the trip) the night before the supposedly trip and they didn’t accept my cancellation because it wasn’t cancel 24hours prior the trip. SCAM

See the canal locks from the inside

We wanted to see the canal from the business end but weren't there at the right time for a full transit so this was the perfect alternative. Hassle free pickup from our hotel and along the Causeway to check in. Then by coach to Gamboa to board our boat. On the transit we sailed from Gatun Lake through the Pedro Miguel and Miraflores Locks accompanied by a massive freighter and a German sailing yacht. Entertaining commentary from our guide in English, a lovely freshly prepared hot lunch with salads and dessert. Refreshing cold beer available to buy. Back to the Causeway to disembark before being dropped back to our hotel. Highly recommended.

being in the canal was what we wanted to see

overall the tour was great. we got to see everything we needed to see, one big complain is the tour guide, it was like he was reading out of a book. there was zero interaction with the people on the boat, he sat in one corner on the lowest part of the boat and said his narrative. i wished it he had taken time to interact with people and answer specific questions they may have had. lunch was mediocre to say the least, bring your self some snacks. did i mention they picked us up at 430 am!!! choose another tour if you cant wake up early!!

A lot of waiting
Massoni
, Mar 2020
The actual boat tour was great. Unfortunately there was a lot of waiting involved and not an english speaker to let us know what was happening. We waited the whole hour to be picked up (told between 8:30-9:30) and then waited at the dock for about 1 1/2 hours before an English speaker told us what was happening. Then it was about 30 minutes more before boarding.

The canal was great.

We took a Canal Tour with your company Viator, 27th of February. We booked the tour on line the price was US$ 125, for one person but the otal price to pay was US$ 150, so in all we paid 300 US$ why don’t know ? Your guide blamed us, customers, for the delay!!? Because of the delay the schedule was changed but the money paid was still 150 usd each!! Besides, the guide was disturbing loud and his jokes were stupid. In you online booking you ask about special food. We wrote vegetarian and glutenfree but it was not the case on the boat.

Panama Canal partial transit

It was fine. Kind of a long, circuitous bus trip picking up customers from multiple hotel locations. Once on the boat it was interesting and there were few delays. There was cold bottled water and soda and a decent lunch served. Our guide was nice and gave some interesting information. I thought it was worth what we paid. A printed overview/map would be a helpful addition.

Panama Canal boat tour

This is quite an experience riding a boat down the famous Panama Canal. We traveled through the Miraflores Locks and another lock. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the canal, giving good explanation along the way. It's about 5 hours long, plus hotel pickup and drop off. The boat is an ordinary local tour boat, but large enough for our 90+ people group. Highly recommended.

Tour was great. No one called me to give me hotel pick up time. I had to call Grayline to get it. Hosts on boat knowledgeable and friendly.

Too Much Waiting Around
Carol
, Feb 2020
Going through the locks is interesting, but there is way too much waiting around: lots of boring along with a few minutes of interesting. I would say it's not worth the time (takes all day) and expense. The lunch was good. The tour guide was OK.
