Begin your walking tour by meeting your guide in the morning at the Hotel Granvia Osaka, continuing on foot to the city’s Umeda Sky Building for a 1-hour visit to its Floating Garden Observatory. This open-air viewing platform links the two towers of this sky-high landmark together, offering guests panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape of Osaka, nearby Awaji Island and Mount Ikoma.

Take a break to for a tasty Japanese lunch before continuing to Higashi-Umeda station for a subway ride to Temmabashi station to visit Osaka Castle. This massive stone fortress, first constructed in 1583, contains a variety of historical artifacts from Osaka and the Toyotomi inside its imposing walls.

Moving on from the Castle, head next to the river banks where you’ll board your vessel, the Aqua Liner, for a 1-hour cruise around the island of Nakanoshima, situated in the middle of one of several rivers running through Osaka. Admire fantastic views of several Osaka attractions from the water, including Osaka Castle, the Twin Towers and City Hall, which is situated on Nakanoshima Isle. Finish your boat ride and follow your guide to Osakajo-Koen station, where you’ll catch a ride on the JR local line back to Osaka station where you can continue your Osaka exploration or head back to your hotel.

Not the Best Tour

We went on 10 different tours in Japan (all Viator), but this one was really BAD! The city of Osaka is a wonderful place to visit, but this tour was designed and implemented very poorly. We have been on other walking tours in Kyoto and Tokyo for the same duration and had a great time. However, this tour took us back and forth to the same place (I guess to pick up additional customers for the afternoon). The tour guide was always in a rush to meet her schedule and did not not give us time for pictures! The worst part was lunch which was advertised as Japanese food, but in reality was served French food!! French food for tourists in Japan! REALLY!! I know Osaka is a wonderful place to visit and we had heard so much about the local food. I feel we wasted our time any money with this tour. Very disappointed. Avoid this tour, but do visit Osaka.

Poor plan

I read before that this tour is average. Now I know .why. It is hard to find this tour because there is not much to see there. It is a great city with lots of shopping. Save your money. All they suggest are to see the floating garden, which is actually the view of the city from the sky tower, expensive lunch, walk around the castle and then take a boat trip. You can do all of it at a half price without a guide, believe me. Few stops by the subway and you are there. The river boat in a walking distance from the castle. Save your bucks and spend them in Kyoto.

This tour was not worth the money spent on it. We saw very little, spent a lot of our time waiting around for the rest of the large group and the tour guide less a tour guide and more a courier had no handle on the group and the lunch was in a hotel, western style and the vegetarian option was tasteless and uninspiring. You are better off seeing these sights yourself, none of the sights cost that much and you will be able to find a much nicer lunch yourself. The highlight of the tour was the boat trip but not worth the price or hassle or the tour itself.

Lovely day and a wonderful walking tour. We were tired and it was a hot day but that was only because we had over exerted ourselves walking around Kyoto the day before. Mikako was our guide and she was very informative and accommodating. She was very engaging and helped accommodate the dietary restrictions in our group during lunch and towards the end of the day while we were waiting for the river cruise she helped us with some recommendations for some unique Osaka eats, especially where to find their signature kushikatsu before we headed back to Kyoto for the evening. We were short on time so only had time for 1 day in Osaka but the city definitely deserves a second or third look for future trips and for those who have more time.

Enjoyable tour of central Osaka with friendly, knowledgeable guide who spoke perfect English. Umeda Sky Tower is quite impressive lunch at fine restaurant was tasty subway to Osaka Castle was fun experience castle and grounds well worth a visit...can go into Castle to see exhibits, etc extra crowded since it was a Sunday and Japanese holiday week, but still enjoyable boat ride on river was relaxing and pleasant way to see city.
