The early bird...is treated as VIP!

I made it to theearly tour at 8.30 which was the best decision! The group was announced to consist of 7 people, in the end just me and an extremely sweet and interestedcouple from.Texs showed up. Emmeline from London, now Yew Yorker, was the best tour guidewith a deep knowledge in the historyof immigration. It really felt like a VIP tour and I am very happy I learned about NYC through Emmelines eyes as a 'new New Yorker'. Thank you so much!

Most memorable just now was sitting under the Statue of Liberty while our superb Experience First guide Emma recited (dramatic) the Emma Lazarus ‘ode’ (poem?) “The New Colossus”!! …..give us your tired, your poor, your hungry masses striving be free…”

Ridiculous price for such a poor tour

If you want to go and enjoy Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty tour, just go to Clinton Castle and buy the tickets for $24 or $24.30 if you want to go up the statue. We paid $861.00 for a tour that is wheel chair accessible (but make sure to run with old people) because the guide won’t wait for you, the tour guide didn’t care for our group because some of the didn’t speak English (out of 11 5 didn’t speak English) there is parking 0.7 miles from the castle. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone

Thank you for writing this review, I can recall we have been assisting you on this matter. Your guide on the day is one of the most highly regarded in NYC with plenty of knowledge and experience. He has made it clear he was under the impression that only one member of your group spoke English but irrespective of this he did not ignore anybody. He is also sure that he made as many concessions as he could to accommodate the needs of a large group with a stroller and wheelchair whilst still trying to ensure that the other guests on the tour were paid full attention and the route could still be completed optimally. We are very understanding and accommodating of such needs and would not want anybody to feel they are unwelcome. To say he did not care for your group is unfair, he has been doing this for a very long time and pays all of his guests due respect. Parking is something we do not offer and always recommend public transport as it is a very serviced and accessible location. You also left the tour as you believed you had pedestal access, when we state in our products we do not provide this so it appears this misunderstanding is a large reason for your discontent. We have also been very understanding and offered you solutions and alternatives. Again, if you would like to reach back out and open new discussions our email is info@exp1.com. I am disappointed to see it had led to a review of such nature.

Our tour guide, Emma, was amazing. She was so knowledgeable about the statue, Ellis Island, and the history of New York. It made the visit less overwhelming and more intimate. I also appreciated how she kept all of us together so we didn't get separated on the very very busy ferry!

The Truth About Lady Liberty, Ellis Island and Castle Clinton

I learned that Lady Liberty was not a gift from the French. And, Castle Clinton and other monuments are on Federal Land: a separate entity, if you will.

Tour guide is better than solo
Mayra_S
, Aug 2022
We personally think that its better to have a tour guide because at the Statue of Liberty we had one which btw was great and the whole experience better but at Ellis Island we decided to go solo and we was kinda lost the whole time there.

Brian was a great guide!...
Chris_S
, Aug 2022
Brian was a great guide! He was high energy, personable, knowledgeable, and made history interesting. Our 13 year old grandson remarked that he would love to have him for his history teacher which is a huge compliment! And later in the tour the two found they were both avid Mets fans which made it even better. Thanks for a terrific tour Brian!
