Overview

Swap the Big Apple for a day in history-steeped Boston undistracted by transportation worries. Travel to the city by comfortable vehicle, and enjoy a comprehensive tour of its highlights with the benefit of a guide for commentary. Stroll around Cambridge’s Harvard Yard, admire the city’s Revolutionary-era landmarks along the Freedom Trail, and enjoy free time for a lunch of local favorites such as clam chowder at Quincy Market.
  • Explore historical Boston on a day trip from New York City
  • No planning needed: go by luxe vehicle and hear about the sites via a guide
  • Tour Harvard, walk the Freedom Trail, and see the Boston Tea Party site
  • Time for local seafood meal (own cost) such as lobster roll at Quincy Market
When visiting New York, take advantage of the city's proximity to Boston and experience one of the most historical cities in the USA. Your full-day tour begins in Midtown Manhattan, where you’ll board a comfortable minivan or bus and meet your knowledgeable guide. Then, travel along the scenic Connecticut coast and through inland countryside on your approximately 4.5-hour journey to Boston.

Get a taste of Ivy League prestige with a stop in Cambridge to tour highlights of Harvard University, including Harvard Yard and the massive Widener Library. You’ll also drive by the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Cambridge College.

After crossing the Charles River into Boston, see local landmarks like Trinity Church and stretch your legs with a stroll along the 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) Freedom Trail. This commemorative path takes you to 16 sites that played a pivotal role in the American Revolution. See the locations of the Boston  Massacre and the Boston Tea Party; Faneuil Hall, and Boston Common. Along the way, your guide will share legends and facts about Boston’s historic legacy.

Midday, enjoy a bit of leisure time to explore downtown Boston on your own. For lunch, try local seafood favorites like lobster rolls or clam chowder at Quincy Market (own expense). After several hours in Boston, reboard the minivan and relax on the return drive to Manhattan, where your 13-hour tour concludes in the evening.

felt rushed all through tour, guide was not so informative..it was a ok tour nothing special . Guide walked fast and way ahead of group and we all needed to catch up. Quincy Market was the only highlight and we were on our own for about 2hrs or so.

Inexperienced guides

Too old to be college students too young to understand what it takes to guide a group of people nor how to behave as a guide instead of a baby sitter. English not up to par for a tour guide. Often not know what the right words to choose to describe what they want to convey.

Not worth the money

We enjoyed seeing the sights. However, the guide had an accent, was hard to understand, boring and repeated himself. We speak English but the other translator was translating so half the time we couldn't hear. For $169 pp, we had higher expectations. Very disappointing.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. All of our guides are carefully selected, trained and constantly monitored. Will definitely investigate. Thanks Mike Empire Team

I got an overall impression thanks to my own knowledge beforehand. Otherwise I would be wondering all the time . There were 4 English speakers but everything was explained only to the first row of seats, pictures were shown to them etc. Also guide`s English was far from normal and very hard to understand (when heard)

In all the visit was good but the van used for transportation is not adequate for such long distances, the seats are narrow and there is no place to put your handbags/backpacks or similar.

Very disappointed with this day trip...

Very disappointed with this day trip to Boston from NYC. Very disappointing! Our tour guide was from Japan and educated in China. Her English was not great. She had learnt most of her limited American History off of Wikipedia and basically parroted what she had learnt. The tour spent an unnecessary length of time at Service centres on the way and back. Time wasted could have been spent longer in Boston on the Freedom trail. She spent most the time chatting in Cantonese with the two Chinese customers and skimming over important facts. This tour would be better suited if the guide was American born and educated with a good command of American history and culture. Waste of money and time.
