Your gastronomic adventure begins in the French Quarter. In the afternoon, meet your friendly, food‐loving guide and set off through the lively Vieux Carré (Old Square).

Your first stop is SoBou, part of the acclaimed Commander’s Palace enterprise. Relish in haute cuisine (‘high cooking’) with dishes such as boudin balls and sweet potato beignets topped with foie gras. If you’d like, grab yourself a drink at the bar before continuing on (own expense). Then, make a quick pit stop at a popular hot sauce bar to sample dozens of hot sauce varieties.

Continue to Leah’s Pralines, where you can sample a Creole classic or a new innovation such as bacon pecan brittle.

As you walk through the French Quarter, colorful signs for traditional po'boys or meat‐filled muffulettas may beckon you. Don’t resist! Your guide leads you to NOLA Poboys. Hear about seafood harvesting in Louisiana before biting into a fresh‐made oyster or shrimp po'boy.

The next stop is Tujague’s to sample traditional slow‐cooked beef brisket, and on to Tableau for some seafood gumbo. As you indulge in these tasty bites, learn about the many ethnic culinary traditions that have influenced Creole cuisine. Your guide also explains Louisiana’s unique geography and the linguistic origins of classic plates like étouffée and jambalaya.

By the end of the tour, you have a full belly and a better understanding of the fundamental dishes that make up New Orleans cuisine. Please note that the stops are based on availability, and may be subject to change.

This tour was wonderful! Good food but learning the history of NOLA food was even better. Beth knew her stuff and was very funny. We had gumbo to start off, then we didn’t really eat again until about 2:30pm so plan accordingly.

Incredible food, Excellent tour guide

Our group loved this tour so much we'd do it again if we ever got back here. Not only was Beth (our guide) super kind and incredibly knowledgeable but the food was fabulous and we were seated promptly at each location...which is worth it in itself as we did this tour on a weekend which meant every restaurant was hopping busy and had long waits if you were just walking up to eat. If you want to try a lot of different NOLA style foods in a short period of time I'd recommend this tour. And lucky you if you happen to score Beth as your guide!

Beth was a great tour guide. I had the wrong date in my calendar for this tour. Thankfully she was persistent in trying to reach us. We were only two blocks away and we were able to get to the tour and enjoyed the history lesson and the food. I recommend this tour for anyone who likes food.
